Please, no need for apology. I apologize for making you feel this way. But I suppose I wanted to point out that while ole Joe makes us feel like Beau was a wonderful guy....he was not.
Somebody’s got to enlighten.
Meanwhile, let me tell the story of when I met Beau.
It was at the Delaware state fair, in a pavilion. The two political parties were seated face to face with a short aisle in between. To the right and left were doors to the outside.
Somebody comes walking down the aisle and all eyes were upon, waving and hellos being called out. I asked my Republican companion sitting with me who was this guy.
“That’s Beau Biden,” my companion told me.
I watched Beau talk and slap hands and get all that attention. At some point I went outside to get a cigarette.
While I was outside, in the quiet of the pavilion wall, a voice greeted me and a gentleman joined me and lit up a cigarette.
It was Beau Biden.
He said he was tired, needed some peace from all the handshaking. We began a conversation. For some reason he began to tell me stories about his father. At that time Joe was Delaware’s Senator, not VP or President. But Delaware didn’t much like Joe at the time and we mocked him.
Beau told me stories of how his father would chase the dog through the house, yell at whoever annoyed him, go to beg at 7 pm and awake at 5am.
Conversation lasted about 15 minutes. Wish I had gotten a picture.
I also was a childhood friend of Nancy Pelosi but I go on too much.
Oh, and also was interviewed on TV by Oprah Winfrey.
You have led an interesting life.
