Armed conflict does not necessarily reach the level of a state of war. As far as that goes, combat in Korea, Vietnam, and both gulf wars were under congressional approval. Grenada was an example of shooting first, and getting approval after.
I am not advocating sending troops to Ukraine but saying we have no interest there other than emotional interest is just plain wrong. Ukraine is the biggest producer of Industrial Neon gas. The other big producers are Russia and China. Neon is essential for making microchips and it is very difficult to get. The US has basically no ability to make this gas. If you think having Russia and China control the world’s supply of Neon (and therefore the ability to make microchips) is in our national interest then by all means disregard what is happening in Ukraine.
It will take weeks. And it will be Hell living through it no matter where you live. The weapons will be released in ‘packages’ and spread across dozens of widely spaced targets. Then there will be a waiting period to assess target damage for re-strikes, and the next target package.
