I was not impressed with the results of the GOP primary in Texas. Greg Abbott beat his more conservative opponents by a 2:1 margin, even in conservative bastions like the Panhandle. He did move rightward as the primary approached, but his overall record has been moderate, in the footsteps of the younger Bush and Rick Perry. Eyepatch McCain, aka Dan Crenshaw, beat more conservative opponents by a 3:1 margin. The Texas Legislature gerrymandering his district so that a glass of water labeled Republican would win the general election. One plus is that Van Taylor, who voted for the January 6th Committee, resigned due to his marital infidelity becoming public. Keith Self, now the GOP nominee, is more conservative than Taylor.

Agree. It does seem some of the dumbest people who walk this planet vote in GOP primaries. They’re busy selling the rope to the GOPe that they will use to hang us all.
