Looks like there was no need for US/NATO troops on the ground, or even a “no-fly zone” - the Ruskie soldiers apparently couldn’t find their own backsides, if they were soaking wet & freezing in the bottom of a foxhole. In retrospect, all the stories about the ‘danger’ of Putin invading NATO countries were just ‘jump-the-shark’ clickbait, and some of the suggestions (like the US giving nukes to the Ukrainians ;>) were obviously moon-bat-crazy!
Neocon think tanks are deeply saddened by Ukraine’s “unexpected” successes. They said Kiev would fall in 3 days.
An astute person once pointed out to me that when it comes to authoritarians government, the West always overestimate their capability but underestimate their determination.
I think the entire Ukrainian situation fits that analysis, everyone underestimated Putin’s determination to take all of Ukraine, and mostly dismissed the idea of him invading until it happened. But everyone also overestimate his strength, and assumed a quick victory which also did not happen.
