The Americans had a much longer road to go, from Kuwait to Baghdad, and they did it with extremely low casualties vs the forces engaged.
The actual distance from Belorussia to Kiev is shorter than from Kuwait to Basra. The British got to Basra with just one Armored Brigade in two days. And then they sat outside it to let it stew.
