Not a good point. I know someone that lived in Minsk during the Chernobyl situation and they didn’t even get iodine pills, which is one of the primary times you’d need one. The Soviet civil defense stuff was just a joke. They talked it up, but when it came down to it (kinda like this Ukraine thing too) they fail hard.
Good thing we didnt listen to the Generals who were demanding war with a full invasion of Cuba.
As would any nuclear armed nation which is why it's insane to think that two nuclear armed nations can have a "conventional arms only" war with each other.
You can throw a rock from Belarus and hit Chernobyl. It's practically on the border.
Ukraine is the size of Texas. Tactical nukes inland or towards Poland's border would be much less risky.

I've been told that Putin appears to be in poor health lately. If he knows he is on his way out, is he nuts enough to decide he wants to take as many of the rest of us along with him as he can? Are his generals sane enough to refuse the order and depose him?
