The US has been unable to determine if Russia has designated a military commander responsible for leading the country's war in Ukraine, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter — something that current and former defense officials say is likely a key contributor to the apparent clumsiness and disorganization of the Russian assault.
Without a top, theater-wide commander on the ground in or near Ukraine, units from different Russian military districts operating in different parts of Ukraine appear to be competing for resources rather than coordinating their efforts, according to two US defense officials.

Its CNN using unnamed sources. Skipping that it brings up some issues and commentary by Ret. Gen. Sparks.
- According to U.S sources, the theater commander is unknown.
- The Russian military districts are operating independently.
- Russian districts are competing for and not coordinating resources.
- Secure communications is a problem.
- Russians are using civilian cell phones, leading to their getting targeted.
- Unit communications are getting cut off.
- Command and control is lacking.
According to Ret. Brig. Gen. James Marks, there has to be someone with overall command, we do not know who that is. Effectively, Russia is fighting battles separate from each other. The problem is, there is no synchronization between them, these are all indepdent operations, which doesn't make sense.
Thoughts, comments?

US intelligence failure shows Russian weakness.

Who is Russia's top commander in Ukraine? The US isn't sure. Maybe the CIA should lay off spying on Trump and Conservatives, and do their job for a change.

They don’t even know who are the commanders but know everything else...Okay.

U.S. and NATO know the Russian order of battle. The question is who is the overall operation commander. Russia's three offensives are working almost completely independently of each other. That is not how anyone expected Russia to fight.
There is the Russian military command structure. That does not by itself explain who is in charge of the invasion and how they are running operations. The disorganization and problems the Russian military is having creates a confused picture of what is going on at the top of their leadership.

Without unnamed sources life would be boring. And CNN ratings below zero.

Or for that matter Army/Navy/AF intelligence branches. Many US flag officers have bios on their “opposite number” to help them with strategic insights. CNN wants us to believe this crap.

Come out come out, wherever you are.
Russian generals hiding like scared schoolchildren is never confidence inspiring for the troops.

The mortality rate for Russkie Generals seems to be very high...Depends on who you ask.
Ukraine claims to have killed six. Russia confirms one general killed. U.S. intelligence hasn't confirmed any Russian generals killed.
Probably somewhere in between.

Talk about a nightmare job... even if you survive the Ukrainians, you also have to survive Putin.
