A group of Russian elites are allegedly conspiring to overthrow Russian President Vladimir Putin and “restore economic ties” with the West, according to Ukrainian intelligence.
“Poisoning, sudden illness, accident – Russia’s elite is considering removing Putin,” declared a Sunday Facebook post from the Chief Directorate of Intelligence for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The ministry claimed that a group of “influential people” has been forming in Russia who want to “remove Putin from power as soon as possible and restore economic ties with the West, which were destroyed by the war in Ukraine.”
The intel alleges that the group has already been eyeing Alexander Bortnikov, the Russian Director of the Federal Security Service and a member of Putin’s inner circle, as a successor to the president.

Ukrainian Intelligence - they same people who, a week before the Russian invasion, had Zelensky and his Defense Minister telling Biden to calm down - they saw no invasion coming.
Russia doesn't have a Soviet Politburo or appear to have a Brezhnev waiting in the wings to replace Putin. He's a President (de facto for life), not a chairman first among equals. So, the Khrushchev example of a peaceful coup doesn't apply. Russians prefer (need, really) strongman rule and I don't see Putin as being especially vulnerable or incautious. He's more the predator type, not the prey.
Probably far more likely; ol' Joe spends 99.9% of his time looking for those marbles he lost, while Putin is probably spending considerable time, each and every day, ensuring that he doesn't get shivved by a Russian oligarch or ladder-climbing toadie...

If this were true, I doubt it would be all over the news and in the New York Post. LOL
I wish we has some elites willing to step up like that is the US. I also hope they will be smart enough to not announce their plan.

Or is 'Ukrainian intelligence' (if that's who really put this out) trying to make Putin paranoid so he turns on members of his inner circle?
