Bulgaria will not hold talks with Russian energy giant Gazprom (GAZP) to renew its natural gas purchase deal amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine and will be looking at alternative supplies, Deputy Prime Minister Assen Vassilev said on Saturday.

...

Vassilev said Sofia will be looking to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) from terminals in neighbouring Turkey and Greece and increase the amount of Azeri gas it can receive.

Bulgaria, where annual gas consumption is about 3 billion cubic meters (bcm), has sealed a deal to receive 1 bcm of Azeri gas but can only fully tap the contract after a new gas pipeline with Greece becomes operational later this year.

Gas Interconnector Greece - Bulgaria (IGB) will be completed by the end of the year. It will bring gas from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria.

The Baltic Pipeline will also be completed by the end of the year and bring more gas from Norway.

Poland and Bulgaria will be free of Russian gas by end of the year.

The EU wants to fill gas storage facilities to 90% full before next winter. That means record LNG imports over the Spring, Summer and Fall.

European energy markets are being remade.

“European energy markets are being remade.”

We’ll see...importing massive amounts of LNG is not something a country can do overnight. Maybe 5 years, and ONLY if they forgo EPA-like reviews, and the Greens have a big say in that.

Trump tried so hard to wean Europe off of Russian natural gas. The KGB criminal thug stepped right into the big pile and did it all by his lonesome. That I find hilarious.

Well China is by far the biggest importer of Russian oil. In fact China is the biggest importers of oil on the planet with a huge 1.4 billion people in it.
Bulgaria ? They don't even appear on the radar of big importers of Russian oil.

China buys Soviet resources so they can make products to sell to the west, to pay the Soviets.

Obviously the two eastern nations profit from our stupidity and laziness.

Boycott on Russian oil, right. China will buy every drop Russia wants to sell at a discount below market price. After the discount, Russia will still be netting as much, if not more, than before the west “shut down Putin’s petro profits”. Of course, you and I deal with the collateral damage of $5 gas.

Azerbaijan and their “daddy “ Turkey are guilty of attempted genocide against the Armenians.

No decent nation should do business with the filthy Azeris.

Turkey is biding their time.

If history has taught us anything, it’s the one bad guy always replaces the last bad game. Stalin followed Hitler, Mao followed Tojo.....and Erdogan will follow Putin.

So The Russ are going to get suckered by the Chinx like that? What a laugh considering that Russ oil is extracted in very cold tough permafrost areas. Where oil extraction is not profitable unless the oil price is over $35 per barrel.

The Europeans paid/pay full price for Russian oil. They were better customers.

You did see this?

Why are you rambling about $35 oil when it’s $110, with the only limit on its continued rise being how long this insanity goes on.
