As part of its deadly assault on Ukraine, Russia has taken the rare step to use intellectual property rights as a war tactic.
In early March, the Russian government issued a decree saying that Russian companies are no longer obliged to compensate owners of patents, utility models and industrial designs from “unfriendly” countries. These are the western states who have issued sanctions against Russia, including the UK and US.
This means that Russian businesses can use intellectual property, such as patented inventions or fashion designs, without having to pay or seek the consent of the rights holders. Affected companies cannot enforce their patents and designs against Russian imitators.

The sanctions have also led a Russian judge to dismiss a copyright and trademark infringement lawsuit brought by the British company that produces animated series Peppa Pig. Andrei Slavinsky said in court that the “unfriendly actions of the United States of America and affiliated foreign countries” influenced his decision.

Serious question...do you currently live in Russia. Because some independent film showed huge lines at markets and super lines waiting for sugar.
"Between armies, the laws are silent".
The original script of "Casablanca" had Major Strasser and his men singing the "Horst Wessel Lied", but it was nixed by the Warner Brothers suits because that song was under copyright. They substituted a song from the 1840s, "Die Wacht am Rhein" (which, because of the film, everyone believes is a Nazi song).
Of course, by the time the film was widely popular, the Eighth Air Force was pounding the German copyright office to dust, and the threat of a lawsuit was no longer relevant.
Zelensky missed the lesson that, "between armies, the laws are silent".
China owns this factories, patents, technology, updates... the pieces of paper mean nothing. Dopes doing business with them are just that.
Exactly. Total insanity to give all your IP and design and manufacturing secrets to the lying, thieving, cheating CHICOMS.
Not currently, but have “ relatives” and ex co workers living in Moscow.
Also a contact or two in Ukraine, but I have not heard from Tanya for awhile. The stories she told me about the “ conditions” for a huge EU loan after Maidan where chilling. One example, they were told by the EU financiers, the “ second amendment “ ( gun ownership) clause they proposed had to be deleted or else no money would be loaned. Removing the gun ownership clause came back to haunt them.
Many other chilling facts. The Ukie government is corrupted, evil. The Ukies have been played big time by the globalists, AND the US.
Ok. Ask about the run or sugar, I’ve seen multiple links to huge super lines to get sugar.
On Ukraine being corrupt, what govt. isn’t. The Swiss, US, Venezuela, and don’t forge the Russian government, which represses dissent.
By freezing their foreign reserves (most of them), which in practical terms means the US will dictate to whom and when the money is ever released and under what terms, we pretty much remove any real incentive for them not to do this.
Good for them!
The Soviet Union stole far more than just military secrets during the Cold War...the KGB files opened during the 90s revealed that they had more information on non-military technology than we thought. They didn’t act on most of it, both because their central planning didn’t prioritize it, and because they had lost many of their best and brightest minds to Stalin and the War.
I don’t see them having that problem a second time.
Ok. Ask about the run or sugar, I’ve seen multiple links to huge super lines to get sugar.

First one has to understand beets are grown in surplus in Russia. Used as a staple, does anyone realize sugar is derived from beets? If there is a sugar run, it is not because they don’t produce enough. They have been an exporter of beet sugar for years.
Here is an article with photos.

This Russian guy is right on. All would do themselves a favor to see what the situation is in Russia. You will be surprised.
He's pretty cool.
Russia can use fashion designs? What could be copyrighted?
