I’ve always said that trying to teach most foreigners what freedom is all about is like trying to teach algebra to a cat. They just can’t comprehend, no matter how hard you try and explain it to them.
I had an argument with some lawyer from Oxford who declared to me that he was an “Oxford educated attorney” and then proceeded to try and explain to me that government grants certain rights.
So I said “the very existence of government can only deny rights. It can’t grant them. If there was no government, I could just kill you. The only thing stopping me right now is the government taking my God given right to do it”.
He stormed out of the restaurant.
