I have yet to see anyone applaud now being able to send their 6 year-olds out in the pitch dark to walk to the school bus stop in December.
Interesting.
Permanent Standard Time; if only this
might possibly bring back the Drive In
Theaters of days gone by.
One causality of DST.
Dumb ideas from ignorant nincompoops.
.
I, for one, will miss the change. It’s the only way I’ll ever get to time travel.
There isn’t one thing that someone will not find fault with just to get press.
.... scientists are now saying it could have negative long-term consequences on the human brain.
BS, anyone affected by an hours time change twice a year is already impaired because everything affects them.
How the hell could they ever fly or drive through a different time zone? Suicides would be happening in cars and on flights daily.
DST is stupid to begin with, no doubt about that but it’s not a hazard except to the weak that is afraid of everything.
Using liberal thinking (which is easy, just don’t use your head), we change DST to nightime savings time (NST) where we Spring Back, Fall Ahead and hour and undo all the damage that’s been done since DST started.
Since we talking dumb shxt.. that would make sense! /s
On last nights local news there was a newspiece that said the US Senate had passed a measure eliminating daylight savings time completely. Of course, the House needs to also pass it and Biden has to sign it. But according to this story, the vote was UNANIMOUS.
Wait until next fall. Then they’ll be like “Who’s the idiot who thought this was a good idea?”
So what....if it is a problem, just move the school starting time back by the same amount instead of inconveniencing THE ENTIRE NATION with this constant clock change stupidity.
No Wonder the senate just voted to make it permanent- not one rep objected apparently.
“I don’t like driving to work in utter darkness”.
Here in Florida traffic, car windows can be opened in the morning. Or, at least, A/C is needed much less in the morning; whereas, A/C is almost always in use when homebound. Among the millions of commuters, that’s a savings in A/C wear and tear—and a savings in fuel.
IMHO, this is much ado about not much at all; however, as kids we loved DST as it gave us more time to play and work outside on summer evenings.
That what my brother and I have said for years. Split the difference and leave it.
The funny thing about that is that they divert about 3/4 of the water through hydroelectric turbines rather than over the falls. The falls must have been truly tremendous before that happened.
How do people adjust who fly alot???
Cutting one foot off one end of a blanket and sewing it on the other end does not give you more blanket!
Mark
When I flew a lot , averaging 5 to 7 flights a week, in just US and Canada, time became a blur. Bought a paper every morning to see not only what day it was but also where I was.
International flight was exhausting!
Eliminating it isn’t the same as keeping it DST.
Which is correct???
