Right or wrong, better or worse, I think that Putin expected Trump to be reelected in 2020. Europe and NATO have proven to be more united and more opposed to the invasion than Putin anticipated. Given Trump's opposition to NATO, his acrimonious relationship with most European leaders, his poor relationship with the Ukraine, and his good relationship with Putin himself I think Putin thought his chances of success would be better under a second Trump administration. Again, it may well be a major miscalculation on Putin's part but I believe that was behind his decision.
Again you have everything bassackward. If Trump did get elected and the election not stolen there is no way Vlad goes into Ukraine.
You have to do a lot of twisting to think every leader in the world decided to hold off on doing bad things until Trump’s second term. Trump was the best thing to happen to U.S foreign policy. He is proof positive that all the wars are because either the “leaders” want them or because they’re idiots of the highest order. Trump had peace breaking out all over the world. Go watch the debates, the election and see how much foreign policy was brought up then ask yourself if they were trying to help Trump or the other guy by the omission.
“ his poor relationship with the Ukraine, and his good relationship with Putin himself I think Putin thought his chances of success would be better under a second Trump administration.”
I watched a video of a Trump Zelensky meeting in the Oval Office. Trump was aware of the corruption in Ukraine but he spoke positively of Zelensky and his promise to clean things up. I don’t see how he could have approved of an invasion. You have to understand a lot of Trump’s praises for other leaders (including Kim Jong Un !) is simply a pre-negotiation tactic. Don’t mistake it for friendship and admiration. Trump uses a combination of praise, friendship and threats at the same time to get what he wants. There was a report sometime back that Trump had privately threatened Putin with “hitting Moscow” if he did something stupid.
I have seen others post the claim that in a meeting with Putin, Trump told him that "If you invade Ukraine, I will bomb Moscow."
I don't know if this is true but others posting on this website have said this happened.
It sounds like something Trump could have done.
Putin and Trump would’ve come to some kind of agreement and deal that would’ve taken into account all the corruption going on in Ukraine plus the issues that food and head that were valid regarding the Russian people in Ukraine an Ukraine threatening to join NATO. No way they would’ve been a war if Trump had been in power
