Three million migrants have now fled Ukraine —with the majority going to Poland. That could have major repercussions

Karen Gilchrist - 5h ago

Three million migrants have so far fled the war in Ukraine, with more than half going to Poland.

The influx is putting considerable strain on Polish authorities and humanitarian aid agencies, with questions arising as to how the European Union will provide support.

An inflow of 5 million migrants could cost the EU $55 billion in 2022 alone, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit.

But as the war continues, the movement of people could tick much higher.

In less than three weeks, Russia's invasion of Ukraine has sent 3 million people fleeing their homes to neighboring countries — with still millions more displaced domestically — in what has quickly become Europe's worst migrant crisis since World War II.

While the majority have been compassionately welcomed by host countries rejecting President Vladimir Putin's indiscriminate attack, the sudden influx of people is having a profound impact on the European landscape — with potentially significant consequences.

Nowhere is that impact more pronounced than in Poland.

#1. Lots of single women and many with children. #2. People who stayed in Ukraine will have a burning hatred of Russia for GENERATIONS!

My in-law’s sister and her son reached Dublin on Monday. Taken in by a family there.

I just knew that the USA taxpayer was going to be stuck paying for this war. We already sent Ukraine $14.6 billion.

We very likely will have to pay for rebuilding all of Ukraine after Putin conquers the territory. Open your wallets.

The MSM would support 3 million entering Poland if the were sodomites or moslems.

I wish we would send billions to protect our border and not the most corrupt country in Europe. Lots of DC uniparty beaks will be wet with that money.

Ukraine was the home to ultra-radical feminazi Femen. They will be embraced with warm heart by MSM if they are still around.

Well, in the "New world order" we must all share each other's burdens, don't you know..

America has FAR too much wealth when compared to others on the planet. So, come on, COUGH IT UP..!! /s

Yay! Covid is over. Could this be why the UK and others are dropping their covid restrictions so fast?

I noticed Sunday, that the covid restrictions, i.e., travel tracker forms, vax proof, etc., were still in effect in many countries. This morning, POOF, and just like that, gone.

Yeah, I travel a lot and have to keep up with the changes which are like whiplash.

Lets see if they stay in Poland, or use their refugee status to engage in benefits tourism elsewhere in the EU.

Signs are the Poles are already getting tired of their Ukrainian ‘guests’.

according to an article yesterday, 30 percent of them aren’t even Ukrainians, they’re Africans, Iraqis, Syrians, and Afghans.

As will the people who have left. Many families are split, with the women/children in Poland, and the men fighting in Ukraine.

I guess we’ll see in short order just how efficient any of these outfits are - all talk - or action? They love to organize and get the attention/publicity on the world stage, hold IMPORTANT conferences but are there any teeth to get things done? We know what we’ve seen from the UN over the past 75 years or so....a lot of talk and a lot of perks. NATO, a lot of meetings, a lot of employees and what?

I believe there are many relief workers with a lot of hands-on experience. As for their bosses, I am inclined to suspect that they are glorified bureaucrats.

They won't shape up until they get smashed by the likes of Putin.

Hmmmmmm. Ukrainians from an actual war zone are “migrants.” But invaders from any third world dump not at war are “refugees” when they come to Europe for the free stuff.

Nope, no agenda there...

I didn’t think that the Poles and Ukrainians got along that well. After all, post WW II, the Poles were ethnically cleansed from Lwów and the surrounding dozen oblasts in Western Ukraine. The same area had been the scene of Polish-Ukrainian conflict post WW I, when the Poles took over from the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
