Interesting.
“Zero covid” just doesn’t work for a large country- even one that can use extreme enforcement.
The virus, naturally, becomes more transmissable- until ‘nothing’ can stop its transmission. Or, at least, this virus did.
China needs to re-vaccinate it’s entire population. Quickly.

It seems to me even China did not show their vax effectiveness as high as Moderna or Pfizer for variants up through Delta.

I also suspect China’s vax’d persons numbers may not be as good as stated, and for sure “by the numbers” they are behind on boosters, which themselves only reduce case numbers (much like flu shots).

So... I wonder if China can booster shot their population fast enough to prevent health care system overloads in some areas? Is that their fear?

Or, do they fear a great many cases will result in a variant with Omicron-like transmission. vax evasion, and Delta-like severity, firing up right in their midst?

Or is their reaction toward repressive control so ingrained they can’t help themselves? Well, we’ve seen some of that, but not quite so drastically.
