Although the Biden administration last year approved more permits to drill oil and gas wells on public lands than the Trump administration in its first year, Interior Department data shows approvals have been more modest for months.

In fact, the Bureau of Land Management in January approved just 95 permits for oil and natural gas wells across federal lands in the United States, an 85 percent drop from a zenith of 643 issued last April, according to a review of permitting data by E&E News.

The permitting showdown is the latest of many disagreements over the federal oil program under Biden. When Biden came into office last year, he paused oil and gas leasing on federal lands and last fall published a report criticizing the program as antiquated and deferential to industry.

So Biden instituted a program that hosed the American consumer

I think it was a FOX interviewee that stated, all those 9000 permits are for dry land and there's no way an oil/gas company will invest in a dry hole.

The commie talking point is real, and the reality is also real.

It's like finding a key in your junk drawer and you have no idea what it unlocks

Using permitting to gauge the level of domestic oil production is like using the number of new licenses issued each year and how it relates to new car sales.

Permitting is step one. Then you have to find out if there is oil there. Given Biden and the greenies have asked banks not to lend to O&G, is there any wonder the companies are reluctant.....they have to go it alone. There is no capital. Sure there might be a lack of materials and people....this is why it is soooooo expensive to find oil or reopen shuttered wells. In the past, companies would drop insane numbers and things would bounce back. Not this time, thanks Brandon.

Even if there was something there they could not get a pipeline built.
