The German Army currently has fewer than 75 operational jets and 200 main battle tanks. The entire standing Army is 1/5th the size of Ukraine’s Army.
They expect the American Army to defend them.

I’d love to see someone interview those Germans at the UN who were laughing at Trump. It would be fun!

Germany should never have anything besides a constabulary and coastal rescue force.

And it would be insanity to give Germans a nuclear bomb.

Tornados are the only Luftwaffe planes capable of carrying US nuclear bombs stationed in Germany that are a key part of NATO deterrence. Yes, this is the lede of the articles about this deal I've seen here on German tv.
Germans are morbidly fascinated about the fact that Germany is a de facto nuclear power by virtue of its option to ask the U.S. for the go-ahead to bomb its own territory with atomic weapons.

Very good move by Germany. They may even exceed that 2% of GDP budget that Trump beat them over the head with. Our guy was right - once again.
And based on the performance of the Russian Air Force this time around the F35 should dominate the airspace if it comes to a Russia-Germany engagement,

I’m still stunned at how quickly they’ve adopted an adult attitude after 60 years of acting like petulant children.
OK, if they want modern fighters, then by all means sell them as many F-35s as they want.

The French must be really peeved: we grabbed the Australian submarine contract and now the Germans turn their back on the new Franco-German aircraft they were supposed to design and give us another order.
Will reduce our per-unit costs as well.

50 fighters is two decent sized squadrons.
It’s a good start but a country the size of Germany could stand to have more like 200-500 fighter aircraft.
