No one in their right mind would not hold Russia to the terms of the bonds. Dollars. If paid in rubles, the bond holder could not exchange them for other currency and they therefore ought not to accept payment. Make it default. A contract means something. Sorry if Putin decided to crash his nations economy by attacking a neighboring sovereign state.

You play, you pay.

Do you think Putin an irresponsible idiot for not knowing sanctions would happen?

Now, you can argue all you want about global this or that, and you’d be at least on the ballpark. But this is on Putin and Putin’s Russia.

Not sorry. Not apologizing. Russia had 30 + years to come in from the cold. The turned down the thermostat instead. No one ought to blame the central former republics for looking westward toward prosperity instead of eastward to more pain.

Russia squandered its peace dividends by electing and keeping these totalitarian figures in power.
