Putin Accuses Ukraine of Using Civilians as Shields In Call with France’s Macron, Germany’s Scholz

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin says he “informed” the leaders of France and Germany of the “real situation” in Ukraine in a three-way telephone call on Saturday, alleging various “gross violations of the international humanitarian law” by Ukraine.

President Putin, according to the Kremlin’s official readout of the conversation, accused “the Ukrainian army and police [of] extrajudicial killings of dissenters, hostage taking and the use of civilians as human shields, deployment of heavy weaponry in residential areas, in proximity to hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and so on” as the three leader discussed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which the Kremlin described more prosaically as a “military operation to protect Donbass”.

I have no doubt he’s right about that.

Why? Russia provides no evidence for any of these accusations. Meanwhile, Russia is bombarding evacuation routes on live TV broadcasts, is seen on video kidnapping the mayor of a city, and is directly targeting food warehouses, water facilities and hospitals, and then putting out lame propaganda blaming it on the Ukrainians.

So why would you "have no doubt" about it, when there is literally zero evidence for it, and 100% evidence of the opposite?
