Of course not everything is nefarious.
This is.
In short, doctors knew they were hurting children. Can we just admit the medical community now wants to hurt people and not help people?
republic: form of government in which a state is ruled by representatives of the citizen body. Modern republics are founded on the idea that sovereignty rests with the people, though who is included and excluded from the category of the people has varied across history.
In the US sovereignty, according to an Arizona State University research paper, the Constitution creates the form of government we have in the United States, which is a constitutional and federal republic.
A constitutional republic means that it is one in which, rather than directly governing, the people select some of their members to temporarily serve in political office; the constitutional part means that both the citizens and their governing officials are bound to follow the rules established in that Constitution.
A federal republic is one in which a federal government is given only limited powers for limited purposes, while state governments retain most powers of government. The Constitution describes this division of power, establishing which specific powers have been given to the federal government, while reiterating that most remain with the state governments.
The Constitution’s status as supreme law of the land works in two ways. As long as an action of the federal government is authorized by the Constitution, that action supersedes any state or local law with which it might conflict. But not every action by the federal government is supreme— federal activity must also follow from the Constitution or it too would be illegal.
So as long as Texas is a state, the only other thing it can be is a territory and not an independent republic. The state cannot succeed as that falls under current Supreme Court precedent. In Texas v. White, holds that the states cannot secede from the union by an act of the state. More recently, in 2006, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia stated, “If there was any constitutional issue resolved by the Civil War, it is that there is no right to secede unilaterally.”
Texas chose to join the union after their separation from Mexico. The state is in the grouping now. And the only amendment that pertains to succession is the 10th but it does not directly address the act of seceding so the privilege isn’t in the Constitution, just in law interpretation. So until whichever state in question can get that changed in a supreme court ruling, it’s in the loop and can’t step out.
