Murkowski on tough Supreme Court choice: 'This is a different game'

CNN โ€” Last year, Sen. Lisa Murkowski was one of just three Republicans who voted to elevate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the second most important court in the country. Now, in the middle of an election year, she is faced with a new choice: Promoting her to the highest court in the land.

Murkowski isn't yet sure what to do.

"The difference is, you have nine people who sit on the highest court in the land, who are there for life, and it requires a level of review and scrutiny that is in line with the position," Murkowski told CNN. "So yeah, this is a different game."

Murkowski is in a bind. If she votes for Jackson, she's bound to give fresh ammunition to a Trump-backed challenger trying to remove her from the seat she's held for the past two decades. Yet if she opposes Jackson, she'll be accused of reversing course to insulate herself from campaign attacks.

If only she wasn't up for reelection this year!

Then it would be easy for her.

We all know that she REALLY enjoyed making it difficult for Kavanaugh to get confirmed.

And we all know that she REALLY wants to vote FOR the Democrat appointment.

But then there's that pesky election.

They’ll get someone to cover for her, so she can vote no, knowing she’ll still get confirmed. Mitch will work it out.

Notice how Dem SCOTUS nominees are always a shoo-in. The media simply reaches out to the RINOs to get their opinion and obsess whether or not they will vote for the pick. There is no discussion on qualifications, background....nothing. The Dem pick is called historic, we need to come together, etc. Any Republican who voices opposition is destroyed.

It's as if the Kavanaugh, Estrada, Thomas, and Bork hearings never existed.

The juror in question is a far-left lefty. Tells America all it needs to know about how far left the Biden mis-administration is.

She’ll do what she appears to always do, follow the guidance of Feinstein.

Murkowski is in no bind. She's made a Senate career out of winning the RINO + Dem vote, which outnumbers the conservative vote in Alasks.

Yup, and she’ll come out and claim after extensive questioning, she is beyond qualified and the best candidate for the seat.

Besides, Turtle already have his blessing.

Yes. I don't GAS if she turns out to be the next Justice Clarence Thomas. She needs at least a few more years of experience to establish a track record.

Don’t see any Democrats voting against her even if every Republican voted against her - that’s confirmation - no need for that trick - and that isn’t the issue for Murkowski. Whether or not she is confirmed is not Murkowski’s problem - it is merely how she votes. Murkowski needs to have a good handful of Republicans vote for her or at least choose her as their second or third choice, and have plenty of Democrats pick her as their second or third choice. Voting against the nominee puts the second half of the equation in jeopardy, voting for the nominee puts the first half of the equation jeopardy. Previously she was sitting pretty poised for a massive landslide victory - this SCOTUS vote coming up puts a wrench in the formula.

Bingo! that's how Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe operated for years in Maine.....

In fact...Snowe was the MOTHER of Obamacare...she was the 1 needed vote that allowed it out of committee so she could vote against it knowing it would pass on the floor...

Thatโ€™s exactly what Mitch will do.
Canโ€™t use Linda Graham.
He is already a vote for her.

Regardless of what some may say, our sorry BS, crap filled, ranked choice voting is guaranteed to re-elect the Turdkowski.

“She is facing a tough primary...”

Nope.

The Rigged Choice Voting system in Alaska provides that the top FOUR candidates, regardless of party, advance from the wide-open primary to the general election. There is zero doubt that the Cow will be one of the four. It will be the Cow, Kelly the Conservative, some hapless Democrat, and a Losertarian or Independent.

As a poster noted above, RINOs + liberals outnumber conservatives by a considerable amount — even in Alaska — so the Rigged Choice deck is stacked against any conservative, which is the whole point of RCV. The voters who initially choose the Rat or the Losertarian will have the Cow as their #2 option and that is what will put her back in the Senate.
