Tennessee Republicans revolt against Trump's outsider pick for House seat
NBC ^ | 3/10/2022 | Allan Smith

Her critics are quick to point out that she didn’t move to the district she’s running to represent. Nor, they say, does she seem to know basic facts about the area, like which interstate highways cut through the district. They also have highlighted her years-old criticism of Trump and her support for Jeb Bush in the 2016 GOP primaries, as well as the fact that her wedding was officiated by the liberal Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

As evidence of her conservative bona fides, Ortagus points to her promotion of Trump and his policies at the State Department. On her website, she rails against “Democrats’ plan to turn America into a socialist country,” and Trump called her “an absolute warrior for America First and MAGA!”

"I'll leave state matters to the state legislature,” Ortagus said in a statement, referring to the effort to enact legislation that could disqualify her. “I'm focused on earning the support of Fifth District Tennesseans who want a conservative fighter to defend President Trump's agenda."

Rick Williams, a local Republican activist who co-chaired Trump’s presidential campaigns in the district, said the pushback against Ortagus “is no disrespect” to Trump.

“I think he was told by people this was a candidate he should endorse, and he did. I'm not sure he's too aware of the pushback he's getting here now,” said Williams, who is supportive of another potential candidate, Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles. He added he couldn’t support Ortagus because “she didn’t live here, she hadn’t lived here or knows our values or Tennessee.”

Last week, the state Senate voted 31-1 to pass a bill that would require congressional candidates to be Tennessee residents for three years — and residents of their districts for at least one year — to qualify for primaries.

This is just liberal Democrat media attempting to stir up trouble and — more importantly to them — make Trump look bad. The reality is that it’s a lose-lose for the liberal media shitsuckers like the toad who wrote this agitprop piece:

If Robby Starbuck (the true conservative) wins the primary, then it’s a win for conservatives; if Ortagus wins then it’s a “win” for Trump even though she’s a RINO no matter how big her faux-MAGA talk is now. Either candidate will be a slam dunk for victory in November, giving Republicans one of their VERY few redistricting-based House pickups in 2022.

Trump listening to terrible advice is not the worst part of the story. Robby Starbuck is the preferred candidate. Yet Trump came out and lied and said that he heard Starbuck voted for Obama. A ploy like that is right out of the left’s play book and can’t be overlooked. I wish somebody would ask Trump who told him that Starbuck voted for Obama. And if Trump still trusts that person.

Elizabeth Dole moved to NC to run for that Senate seat and during her term in the Senate, she was in NC only six times.

She was as useless as tits on a boar.

well, FRiend DIRT, the President has many good qualities, chiefly that he loves America and wants the best for her, but i think his hiring is/was based on business need, speed and get the job done fast, and more speed. he doesn’t look in depth at character. for instance, a person with good character (patience, courage, fortitude, justice or equity, prudence, etc.) wouldn’t have even thought about flying into a district they’d never lived in, taking advantage of position, and running there for national political office. and if asked even by a president wouldn’t hesitate to say no, that wouldn’t be right.

my two cents based on his actions and books: he’s apparently biggest on schooling/credentials/experience, family, loyalty, work ethic, organization, task speed and “yes” men and women types. traditional business, interview pluses. but, those are just external effects of both evil and good character. and all of those can be faked very easily until the knives comes out.

imo, good political appointments require a test of good character above anything else.

good character can’t be faked. good character is far more important than all of the above combined because those things come naturally to a person with virtue. no doubt though, people of good character are not necessarily easy to deal with. and speed just isn’t a virtue. just look at some of the people on this site.

hopefully the President is learning. i mean, last year was a tough year for him. he was certainly humbled (hopefully) and betrayed by everyone around him. one thing i know about him. he hates to lose and he lost everything last year.

“Don’t know anything about her. Will be reading and learning from folks kind enough to respond...”

Not sad about this. Over 90% of current republicans need to primaried and replaced with new blood. They solely are responsible for our current mess our country is in by allowing the coup attempt, phony impeachments, partisan special council witch-hunt, intelligence agencies spying on a sitting president, and finally a stolen election. Do not tell me that if they banded together they could not have stop all of it, because that would be a lie.

They love power more than their country.

“He hates to lose and he lost everything last year.”

He lost nothing, it was stolen from him with massive Republican support.
