Roughly 40% of the US corn crop goes to ethanol. If we eliminated the ethanol requirement, we would have no grain shortage.

That’s true, but we’d need to make up the shortfall of motor fuel from somewhere.

Corn used as ethanol feedstock is also used as livestock feed.
