Ukraine Cold Snap Set To Freeze Russian Convoy, Could See Soldiers Quit

A severe cold snap could push Russian troops to desert a convoy that has been stalled outside of Kyiv for the last few days, a military advisor to Ukraine's armed forces has said.

Arctic air moving through Russia and Ukraine will combine with an easterly wind to make the temperature feel as cold as minus 20 [celsius] by Wednesday, according to forecasts.

Russian troops are expected to find these conditions tough as they remain stuck in a column around 20 miles outside of the Ukrainian capital that has barely moved since last week.

"A metal tank is just a fridge at night if you are not running the engine," said Glen Grant, a senior defense expert at the Baltic Security Foundation who advised Ukraine on its military reform."

It may freeze a bunch of Ukranians as well. If pootski shuts off the power and gas. This could have been avoided if branDUHn had used the “behind the gym” threat on putin.

-40 is cold.

-20 is nippy, but not Chosin weather. I think the Russians could handle it-—if their hearts were in it.

These are Russians. Not Floridians.

Anybody that believes Russians in a tank convoy have just been sitting idly inside with their tank heaters on full blast for the last two weeks... well, I’ve got a slightly used and failed nuclear plant I’d like to sell you.

The Russian column outside Kiev isn’t “stuck”. It’s abandoned.

You almost sound sympathetic.

I haven’t seen any updates on the front for a few days. The Russians were supposed to be pausing 24-48 hours for supplies but that was 4-5 days ago. Normally, there would be more action now. Is there a planned stalemate between the sides?

-40 I can sympathize. Being in that is inhumane except in really unusual circumstances. If you can’t handle -20, you don’t belong in Russia, Ukraine, or Canada.

"These are Russians. Not Floridians."

Agreed. Traditionally cold weather is when Russia tends to fight better than their enemies.

Except maybe when they attacked Finland in WW2 and the Fins were able to battle on snow skis. LOL Obviously Finland was greatly overmatched like Ukraine is today. But IMHO it's amazing how long Finland was able to hold off the Russian invasion.

-20 is barely below zero Fahrenheit. The salt water is starting to freeze, don’t lick your tank, and you can store the Vodka outdoors-—add in an ice fishing hut and what more could you ask for?

Isn’t there an old Russian saying about attacking the Ukraine in winter?

Or am I confusing my wise sayings???

There were some reports that Putin had a deal to hold off until the China Olympics were over.

————Ukraine is just as dirty and corrupted as Russia. Take no sides. Zelensky can stop / pause the war simply by going to the negotiating table. Putin offered his terms, again, the same requests back in December when the Ukrainian delegation walked out. The walk out was over the Minsk agreement signed by Ukraine in 2014….Ukraine defaulted on the signed agreement. Sorry, just the facts.

As some FReeprs have noted this convoy isn’t ‘’stalled’’, it’s abandoned.

There is obviously a lot going on here that no one is talking about. This whole ‘’war’’ is fishy.
