Indonesia's Joko Widodo calls for cease-fire in Russia-Ukraine war

SUBANG, West Java, Indonesia -- Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo called for a cease-fire in the war between Russia and Ukraine and said continued dialogue rather than economic sanctions on Russia is the way to resolve the crisis.

Speaking in an exclusive face-to-face interview on Tuesday with Nikkei Editor-in-Chief Tetsuya Iguchi, Widodo said sovereignty and territorial integrity "must be respected by all parties."

Widodo this year also holds the presidency of the Group of 20 nations. Western leaders such as U.S. President Joe Biden and U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson have imposed severe economic sanctions on Moscow, but the Indonesian president said such methods "are not the best solution to resolve the problem" as "people and civilians will be the victims."

"It is important for all countries to push for the tension reduction, de-escalation -- intensify negotiation. This is very important. Negotiation, cease-fire, then stop the war," he said. "I believe any difficult problem can be solved if we are willing to talk to each other -- listen to each other."

These are Widodo's first observations on the war in Ukraine since Russia's invasion on Feb. 24. His only previous comment was a brief line on Twitter that day saying: "Stop war, war only causes misery and endangers the world."

Putin’s contrarian plan to get rid of Nato is pure genius. Here’s how it works.

After seeing the puzzling ineffectiveness of the Russian Army in defeating Ukraine in their own backyard, Nato will do a big collective facepalm. They will begin wondering the reason for the existence of the alliance. Realizing Russia cannot be a major military threat to anyone even if they tried, they will feel no need to waste any more money on Nato against a paper tiger mirage, and they will disband.

The thing is, Putin has not sent in the A team yet. His best troops, tanks, and aircraft have yet to be committed. Any on who thinks that he only has 200k troops is delusional. His next stage of the assault is to level cities with thermobaric missiles.

By the time Putin is done, Ukraine will be one massive prairie and his economy ruined. This guy is totally nuts and our resident is totally demented.

So the team that sent in a huge 60-mile long convoy but used cheap Chinese tires on them and therefore is stuck since day 4 of invasion....that team is the C-team?

NATO will disband when the rest of the national and global bureaucracies disband. That is to say, “when Heck freezes over”.

Being curious, I checked the Ukraine national anthem.

Accompanying scenes of Orthodox churches, military marches, countryside, the crowds, the printed language, could have been lifted straight out of Russia.

Once falling under Russian rule, Ukraine does appear to point a dagger to Poland and abutting countries.
