PepsiCo Inc . is exploring options for its business in Russia, including writing off the value of the unit, according to people familiar with the matter, a move that would mark a turn for a company that introduced American cola to the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War.

Large Western companies are under increasing pressure to pull out of the country in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. PepsiCo is reluctant to shut down its Russian unit—which includes a large dairy business it bought for about $5 billion a decade ago—because tens of thousands of Russians depend on the company for their livelihoods and for daily essentials like milk and baby formula, the people familiar with the matter said.

Woka Cola will not divest from Russia.

Apparently, in Woka Cola’s perspective, Russia is not as “ deplorable “ as the U.S. state of Georgia.

Coca Cola has already bailed, as are many companies by the day.

Those who support these supposed independent corporate actions will be remembered when said actions are used against us.

Where are the companies and countries boycotting the country who is actively committing genocide?

“Where are the companies and countries boycotting the country who is actively committing genocide?”

The West is watching China and for now the Chinese are saying that they will ignore Western sanctions on Russia but until they actually violate the sanctions nothing is going to happen.

Nor should it.

Myself, I think China just might take advantage of Russian weakness in their Eastern Military District and decide to perform a ‘special military action’ of their own by taking control of Siberia.

Pepsi is avoiding divestiture because “tens of thousands of Russians depend on the company for their livelihoods and for daily essentials like milk and baby formula”.
Sure, I believe them.
Why are you snickering?

It’s funny when a diabetes merchant like Pepsi tries to defend themselves with the milk and baby formula schtick.

Wow, if China takes over part of Siberia. I would be shocked and would come back to give you credit for foreseeing that.

Imagine making money buying cola from a blue state and selling it in red states. Reminds me of when people in Wisconsin made oleo runs to Illinois.

If I was in Beijing I’d be telling President Xi to forget about Taiwan. Taking Taiwan would have similar impacts on China as taking Ukraine is having on Russia. And the ramifications of those impacts will be far greater on China than they are on Russia.

But where’s the downside to China taking back Siberia? Right now I can’t think of one. Putin is not going to go nuclear with China because China has his same moral values and won’t hesitate to annihilate every last Russian population center and military target.

The West certainly isn’t going to give a flying...care...if Putin’s Russia gets raped by China. We’ll just sit back and watch as Russia gets humiliated.

China could even score some karma points with the West by saying they’re taking back Siberia to help the Ukrainians. It would be a lie, of course, but we’d still applaud them for saying it.

I guess that’s my mental calculus here is that there just isn’t a downside to China taking back Siberia from Russia.

Siberia belonged to China for thousands of years before the Russians came along.

"In brief, stakeholder capitalism involves the behavioral modification of corporations to benefit not shareholders, but stakeholders—individuals and groups that stand to benefit or lose from corporate behavior. Stakeholder capitalism requires not only corporate responses to pandemics and ecological issues such as climate change, “but also rethinking [corporations’] commitments to already-vulnerable communities within their ecosystems.” This is the “social justice” aspect of the Great Reset. To comply with that, governments, banks, and asset managers use the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) index to squeeze non-woke corporations and businesses out of the market. The ESG index is essentially a social credit score that is used to drive ownership and control of production away from the non-woke or non-compliant."
Over the last week I'm of the opinion that we're witnessing the weaponization of ESG for geopolitical purposes.

Few of us are pointing out the obvious risks in poking a nuclear armed Russian bear in a tragic rehashing of history.
