Poland Supplies MiG29s to Ukraine
Polish Foreign Ministry ^ | 03/08/2022 | Polish Foreign Ministry

Posted on 03/08/2022 11:10:58 AM PST by pierrem15

The authorities of the Republic of Poland, after consultations between the President and the Goverment, are ready to deploy – immediately and free of charge – all their MIG-29 jets to the Ramstein Air Base and place them at the disposal of the Government of the United States of America.

At the same time, Poland requests the United States to provide us with used aircraft with corresponding operational capabilities. Poland is ready to immediately establish the conditions of purchase of the planes.

The Polish Government also requests other NATO Allies – owners of MIG-29 jets – to act in the same vein.

I know Russia committed atrocities including taking POWs from N. Vietnam that were never seen again. I think war with the communists is inevitable, but I don’t want it with woke, transgender military and biden as commander in (the other) comunists.

Yes, China is going to set on the sidelines. Why wouldn’t they?

Besides any war between US/NATO and Russia is going to be over quickly.

Most of Russia’s equipment is in Ukraine where they are sitting ducks. It’s not like Russia has invasion capacity beyond what they have in Ukraine.

So by the time China can say Winnie the Pooh, it’ll be over.

Russia is not going to let that happen. So they are going to accept the fact that Ukraine has now secured more planes. And I expect Russia will be negotiating more seriously for peace before long.

No. Poland is sending Migs to U.S. base in Ramstein, Germany. They don’t want to be in Russia’s crosshairs. Where to send those planes (if anywhere) will be our decision.....or NATO’s.

Talk about passing the buck.

If I were the Poles I would get at least 50 A10s and train the pilots on them. A few A10s in mothball in the southern AZ desert.

They already have a few US fighter aircraft?

Well then the Poles should ask for all those soon-to-be decommissioned Harriers. Their kill ratio against F16’s is about 2:1. But that was better than what the Harriers did to the F15 Eagles.

..... excerpt from a magazine, “NATO Warplanes”, which I believe is from 1985 and has the page #37 on the bottom. I apparently used it as a bookmark for the Jump Jet book by Myles… The back has a ripped up picture of a Sea Harrier, and the front has a tear off which includes a table showing the Kill Ratios of the Sea Harrier vs. Other aircraft. Here’s the Table:

Sea Harrier Success Record in Combat Engagements During Peacetime Exercises
(Figure 3)

VENUE ADVERSARY KILL RATIO

(Sea Harrier Wins: Adversary Wins)

Decimomannu 81 F15 & F5E 12:4

Decimomannu 83 F16 31:14

Alconbury F5E 3:1

NATO Sea Exercise F14 3:1 to 10:1

United Kingdom F4 10:1

And replace them. Seems easier to just go direct from US to Ukraine:)

The use of nonconventional would be a very short war.

in which the US would receive 5,900+ nuclear warheads and Russia would receive <5,600 in return in the first half hour. Short.

Xi Jinping would be beside himself with laughter.

Putin cannot win in Ukraine without control of the air.

Even before providing any aircraft to Ukraine, this move puts a lot of pressure on Putin in the negotiations.

He has already backed off “demilitarization” and “denazification.”

His position may fall back to (1) recognition that Crimea is part of Russia and (2) occupied Donetsk and Luhansk to hold referendum on future (certainly while the militia is in control, likely then to join Russia)

Ukraine retains right of self-government, can join EU. NATO agrees not to base “offensive” weapons in Ukraine, otherwise Ukraine decides for itself its defense policy.

"Just noticed: delivery from Ramstein Air Base, to make sure we and the Krauts are dragged in. Smart on the Poles part."
Ramstein Air Base or Ramstein AB is a United States Air Force base in Rhineland-Palatinate, a state in southwestern Germany. It serves as headquarters for the United States Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa and also for NATO Allied Air Command. Ramstein is located near the town of Ramstein-Miesenbach,

Doubtful that the US will go along. Poles did this to get F-16s. At least.

I don’t recall that Russia destroyed the Ukrainian Air Force on day one (which they should have done if they wanted to walk over them).

I think they did that fairly early.
