My great grandparents on both sides of my family also came from Ukraine in 1880.
Jews had to leave because they were treated very poorly at that time. I think if you check the history of where a lot of Jewish families came from it was called the area known as the pale of settlement.

He was an Iron worker( extremely unusual for Jews) and a Labor leader in NYC. A Socalist, but Anti- Communist.

First wife’s family both sides were Ukrainian Jews, came over separately when Ukraine got caught in the middle of the red/white civil war and met in Philly, so son is 1/2.

IFCJ is working with Jewish orgs for humanitarian assistance; they started running donation requests on FoxNews, I hope the channel is cutting them a deal so the money can go where it’s needed.
