The right to boycott must include the right to not boycott, or it's not a right at all.
Each company should make their own decision, without undue pressure.

Just more cancel culture.

This will not hurt Putin or the oligarchs, just the people who really don’t have any say over the government.

Multinational corporations, if they should even exist, should not operate independently of representative governments where they do business.

It’s a pretext for more globalism.

Ping to mvonfr.

Post # 24 on "McDonald's and Coca-Cola boycott calls grow over Russia" thread.

...Russian franchisees might still make and sell the stuff without paying royalties. Corporate America is not going to let their rubles get away from bottom lines.

Don't know Brian, but I pinged someone who does.

McDonald’s and Coke is not food and water. Never was or will be.

Big companies exercising political will over those thoey disagree with USED to be a thing we on FR did not like.

Now, it seems most here on FR support this abuse of power.

This global and social responsibility crap has spiraled out of control.

MD is in the business of making burgers and fries, not making political, social, environmental, personal health choices for people...

Frankly I applaud them for staying out of it.

Thats what has me so confused. I thought these liberal cancel types hated Russia (for now). Why would they try to make Russians healthier? Shouldnt they be trying to find a way to open more?

I’m sitting in McDonalds eating two McChicken sandwiches and a large Coke, $3.14 including tax. I got McDonalds back, I don’t care what they’re doing in Russia.

TBH I think McDonald’s and Coca-Cola are small issues.... whatever happens to them is insignificant to for example the investment of oil companies in Russia.

If I understand the NEW law correctly, the franchises still have to pay dividends. But... dividends are to paid in rubles to special bank accounts .... and then the Russian government decides who gets access to these accounts.

Just don’t give a crap about Russia and or Ukraine, they are both nothing but corrupt commie bastards.

Haven’t eaten any McDonalds since I was a kid, it’s just recycled human feces; as for Coke I stopped buying their products since they went woke in Georgia.

It’s rare that you can buy anything nowadays without a severe case of butthurt.

One missing detail: what is the exchange rate? This makes a huge difference if the royalties are ever paid and nothing was said about it.

“Coca cola is diabetes in a can. Their spin doctors pimp poison.”

So Coke should be encouraged to sell to Russia. McDonalds too.

what is the exchange rate?

Today, one Russian ruble is worth $0.0067.

“Well-known firms including Netflix and Levi’s have already suspended sales or stopped providing services in Russia.”

Levis would have made uniforms for the Eisengruppen with Jewish slave labor.
