On a snowy tarmac at Amari Air Base in northern Estonia on Sunday morning, pallets of rifles, ammunition and other weapons were being loaded onto one of the largest cargo planes in the world, an Antonov AN-124, belonging to the Ukrainian air force. It is an artifact of the Cold War, built and purchased when Ukraine was still part of the Soviet Union.

In less than a week, the United States and NATO have pushed more than 17,000 antitank weapons, including Javelin missiles, over the borders of Poland and Romania, unloading them from giant military cargo planes so they can make the trip by land to Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, and other major cities.

Who is/are the moron/morons who clutter up FR keywords on any article where posters don’t jump on the neocon bandwagon?
HOLY COW!!! Those Russian convoys are nothing but big fat targets. They are dead men walking. They cant hide or move covertly so it is going to be ambush after ambush afterxambush. And that is the news that is getting reported. A quagmire for Putin.
Glad to see the hardware is helping the Ukes hold back those filthy mongols. Every day that bogs those invaders down is a day closer to the hopeful end of Putin. The Russian generals will tolerate this only so far and so long.
“Russian troops fear sitting in the convoy when fuel-supply tanks are being targeted by the Ukrainians, setting off fireballs”
i guess if you can blow up the fuel and ammo trucks, then you don’t need to worry too much about the tanks themselves ..
>>Russian Train Wreck?<<
Moral: don’t tailgate. *<]:-’)
I have a suspicion the Ukes' preliminary success last fall was part of what prompted Putin to "go now". Not that it wasn't part of his long term plan to grab Eastern Ukraine, but, he might have been content with gradual progress, and, instead he was looking at a significant reversal.
In any event, if Pooty was trying to "demilitarize" Ukraine, he's had a nasty surprise. And if he thought he had unfriendlies in Ukraine to neuter before, now he has a country full of furious enemies wanting revenge. If he thought he had a NATO problem before, now he really has one.
The minimum direct fire range of a Javelin is a little over 200 feet. With soft launch and fire and forget, it is less likely to give away the position of the firer — an important consideration for survival. It is an excellent weapon, a good friend for the infantryman to have along no matter whether he is out on the town or on a stroll in the countryside.
You can direct fire a Javelin with the wet launch. Range in excess of 2000 meters...double what it replaced...the Dragon ATGM
Thats damn cheap when taking out a tank with 80% hit probability.....trucks laden with troops or fuel are still more than 150k. ...same with those GAZ Tigr jeeps.
Well, apparently McCain daughter or someone is going to Syria to recruit Isis to fight Russians… let that sink in the fools we have… isis will turn around and fight for Putin.
The dumbarse Russians.
You can come in...but you can’t leave.
It’s getting worse for Putin and at some point you would think the humiliation would wise him up.
He aint to bright and instead of chess, he is playing pin the wheel on the jackass in the mirror.
Repeat after me...Putin on a pike!
Burn the mongols !!!
