Don’t we still have a few Americans being held prisoner in Venezuela?
I recall around May of 2020 two Americans were captured when a plot to kill Ven. President Maduro unraveled.
Has any thought been given to try transfering these two men back to American soil?
Similar situation with the original Iran Deal... their allies were holding traitor Bowe Bergdahl. Gaining his release was the excuse for money laundering / handing all that foreign currency to Iran.
Like Bergdahl I think it is a deliberate way to create political cover. Give these countries hostages (whose families won’t stir up trouble here at home) in order to that these hostages can later be “rescued” by means of huge infusions of cash and the lifting of sanctions. The scandal then quickly gets dismissed when people think it was all for the sake of hostages that no one worried about to begin with.
