The Ukrainian military has mounted an unexpectedly fierce defense against invading Russian forces, which have been dogged by logistical problems and flagging morale. But the war is barely two weeks old, and in Washington and European capitals, officials anticipate that the Russian military will reverse its early losses, setting the stage for a long, bloody insurgency.
The ways that Western countries would support a Ukrainian resistance are beginning to take shape. Officials have been reluctant to discuss detailed plans, since they’re premised on a Russian military victory that, however likely, hasn’t happened yet. But as a first step, Ukraine’s allies are planning for how to help establish and support a government-in-exile, which could direct guerrilla operations against Russian occupiers, according to several U.S. and European officials.

According to the Ukrainian maps. We'll find out soon enough which map is accurate.
The western borders of Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia Oblasts will be the new western border of Ukraine.
the old Austro-Hungarian oblasts aren’t worth the trouble keeping. The best region for guerilla warfare is the Carpatian mountains in Zakarpattia Oblast. But that should go back to being part of Slovakia like it was prior to WW II.
The Hungarians might have something to say about that.

Good news! We didn’t have to wait long. Russia today launched air attacks against Chernihiv, which according to your map was captured long ago, but pretty obvious if they are still bombing it they don’t control it.

Pentagon can't confirm that Russian forces dropped bombs on Chernihiv.
FWIW,
And, yes, that's someone reporting on Twitter so take it for what it's worth. And, yes, the Russian maps are probably as optimistic as the Ukrainian maps are.
Ukraine’s government has been in exile since 2014.
Exactly. The current government is a corrupt puppet and helped impeach Donald Trump.
The Post story is proof Russian has them over a barrel and Zelensky won’t be in country very long.
Deep state has lost control of the narrative. All the rich Ukrainians have already left and are living with friends in neighboring countries.
There won’t be an insurgency. Fake news. Ukrainians want Zelensky and the US out......
Why wouldn’t it be possible to hold an enclave of Ukraine adjacent to Poland and Romania. That way the Ukrainians could be resupplied and drain and tie down Russian resources. I don’t think the Russians can win a war of attrition and thus would restrain Russia from additional invasions.
Silence...
All the pro-nuclear war nutjobs are starting to shut their dirty mouths.
Whoever added this needs to check out George Soros's Twitter. He is 100% shilling for Ukraine.
You’ve tagged me twice now, not in response to anything I’ve written.
So I’ll bite.
What are you talking about?
I’ve been to Russia. I’ve never been to Donbas. The people I’ve met from there don’t seem particularly connected to it. It just one of those backwater places that everybody leaves if possible. Donbas is important to Ukraine. It certainly wouldn’t be to Russia. Just another industrial area amonst others in Russia. Putin cynically used the people there to freeze the conflict.
Your point about language kind of points to Russian chauvinism that you often see in the former Soviet Union. Russians think they are better than their neighbors and don’t mind telling you that.
The Ukraine of Yanukovich was corrupt and hardly functioning shell of country. It’s army couldn’t even move into battle because their trucks had no batteries.
Projecting American weakness will only bring more military aggression and economic warfare. From Russia, from China, from North Korea, from Iran. All allies, btw. If don’t want WW3 then you certainly not support the invading aggressor in the largest war in nearly a century.
Quislins that support the current Feral Government.
I stand with Trump.
You stand with Putin Cuba venezuela and North Korea.
Why don’t you just find a commie country where you’ll be happy?
You post a map and don’t know if it’s accurate? Doesn’t speak well for the truthfulness of anything else you may post.
wrong.
Ukraine became independent again when the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991. This started a period of transition to a market economy.
On 21 November 2013, then-president Viktor Yanukovych suspended implementation of an association agreement with the European Union. This decision resulted in mass protests by pro-Europeans known as the “Euromaidan” or the “Revolution of Dignity”.
After months of such protests, Putin’s puppet, Viktor
Yanukovych ran away to Moscow in the middle of the night.
The Ukrainian parliament IMPEACHED Yanukovych on 22 February 2014.
Check it out: Ukraine is high in natural resources. Plus it serves the mad-man’s insane dream to reestablish the USSR.
If Ukraine is not worth it, WHY does Putin insist upon invasion???
AGREE. Putin & Biden are linked at U.S. pocketbook.
SOROS= GOLDFINGER is a vulture trying to establish gain for self.
