In Afghanistan, the destruction of the Taliban was the right thing to do.

After a 20 year occupation, who leads Ashcanistan today?

the Taliban was crushed within months. Then, about 7 years of passive occupation (only the capital region). Then, Bush started the planning and Obama gave the order, there was an effort to turn Afghanistan into a democracy capable of depending itself. So, in 2009, Bush and Obama made that absolutely stupid decision.

Are you really saying that we shouldn’t have crushed the Taliban?

My goodness, man, you are either far up Putin’s ass, or really, really ignorant.

I apologize if you’ve just gotten confused about what happened in Afghanistan. Especially if you are a veteran. I give a lot of leeway to those who joined in our nation’s defense. But, I made the difference clear between crushing the Taliban and trying to turn Afghanistan into a democracy that can defend itself.

As to who is in charge in Afghanistan? The Taliban is back in Kabul, but this is of little consequence in the tribal regions. There is widespread famine and other deprivation. It’s anarchy. Like Somalia. Nobody’s in charge.
