The Russian/Ukranian fiasco,clusterfork and utter chaotic creation if a complex situation.
Putin is likely to want security for the Donbass which is easily done, elimination of the many bio-labs that are too close to Russian for comfort and to get rid of those who are screwing up the Ukrainians.The Nazis.
Problem is much of the rest of the Ukrainian govt. is a basket case of corruption as well. Does this make taking over such a country without a lot of chaos a near impossible task?Possibly.
Problem is you can't take out innocents with military precision and hope to have much of anyone on your side. That's what Putin has been doing. Not on a massive scale but enough that it gets attention, all the wrong attention.
How he manages to reach his goals and possibly change the direction of the country from here is a mystery to me.
It's like he's digging a hole to bury himself.
