How does any rational or caring human being watch us lose a 20-year war against cave-dwelling barbarians, and not just lose that war, but lose it in the most humiliating fashion imaginable, and less than a year later already have a war-boner for Ukraine?

To be honest I’m starting to think this country is unsalvageable. The elites own the media and readily use it to sway public opinion to whatever narrative they decide upon. I’m seriously thinking of retiring elsewhere, I no longer trust our insane, corrupt and incompetent leaders to make good decisions on anything. They’ve jerked us around with covid and now we are on the cusp of both financial collapse and WW3 with no end to the idiocy in sight. I just hope I can find some place to escape to and set myself up before they destroy the dollar and inaugurate further restrictions on our freedom. I hate to just cut and run, but I seriously wonder if there’s even enough people left who realize what is going on and are committed to do something about it. Our Oligarchs seem to hold all the levers of power, and they aren’t shy about using (and abusing) it.

Very true, but, believe it or not, there is a Conservative’s Club here on our local NextDoor.
The horrendous politics here are one of the reasons why we bought a house in North Idaho. I’m splitting time (winter here on the Peninsula), but my wife is spending winter at our Idaho place. She is so fed up with CA she has vowed never to return.
I sure do enjoy the weather here on the Peninsula, especially because I spent my first 21 years in cold, wet, snowy upstate NY and Missouri. No more of that for me. Now that CA is proposing to tax your wealth (not just your income), we may have to close this out forever.
