SEN. CRUZ ISSUES STATEMENT AFTER CALL WITH UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT ZELENSKYY
Senator Ted Cruz ^ | Mar 5, 2022 | Ted Cruz

Posted on 03/05/2022 12:06:26 PM PST by conservative98

HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, put out the following statement after a call with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy today:

“The Ukrainian people and President Zelenskyy are showing the world what a free country looks like when fighting for its survival against totalitarian aggression, even at overwhelming odds. We have all been moved by their bravery and heroism.

“It is incumbent upon the United States to ensure that our Ukrainian allies have what they need to defend themselves, and that Putin does not have resources he needs to fund his war machine.

“President Zelenskyy told us his top priority is that the Ukrainians need to take back their skies, which are being used by Putin to wage war against cities and murder civilians. The United States and our allies should move immediately to provide them above all else with fighter jets, as well as with Stingers and other anti-aircraft assets. We must also continue supplying them with additional lethal aid, especially Javelins. Democrats in the Senate need to end their delays, and the Biden administration needs to cease withholding actionable intelligence from Kyiv.

“Meanwhile, the United States should immediately implement an oil and gas embargo on Russia. If the Biden administration won't do so on its own, Congress should mandate that they do so. As President Zelenskyy told us, boycotting Russian oil and gas would be the most potent sanction we can impose, by far, and it is also the only economic sanction that can tenably and quickly affect Russia's ability to continue financing its aggression.

“In the coming days Congress will focus on aid to Ukraine. We should consider a standalone Ukraine military aid package to get them the assistance they need as quickly as possible. Ukraine, its people, and its leaders will not survive if we settle for half-measures and delay.”

““It is incumbent upon the United States to ensure that our Ukrainian allies have what they need to defend themselves...”

NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT!

STAY OUT OF THIS WAR.

THIS is how it starts. Next thing you know there will be American “advisors” in Ukraine. Then, UN-armored Humvees filled with American troops. And then, American aircraft carrier groups as more cannon fodder for Russian missiles. Then, ALL OUT NUCLEAR WAR! (or nucular as W used to say)

I read a post a few days ago that said Ukraine was supposed to be getting MIG 29’s from Poland before all of this started, but that was halted

Replace “Ukraine” with “U.S.” and you have another truth. The exact same truth. Therefore a totalitarian communist dictatorship should overrun the US and the rest of the world should laugh at the innocent civilians being killed or enslaved. That makes as much sense as your hate filled spew.

Umm by the way, just like in Ukraine, 99% of people are ordinary working class folks and have nothing to do with the evil things you describe. But they should just go and DIE because of their corrupt leaders. ( which by the way theyve been trying to clean up.)

Agreed that the Ukrainian citizens are victims.

But—we need to be focusing on defending our border, not theirs.

We have failed miserably at preventing an illegal invasion of our country.

...........Nato should loan Zelenskyy a few fighter planes. As far as I know NATO has never used one in combat anyway.

Ukraine would put them to immediate good use. Nato will not.

So, help me out here.

Joe is a potato, Kamala is a third grader, and Nancy is psychotic.

The State department has just told Americans to get the * out of Russia. Obviously something is up.

Who's making the decisions? Who's in charge of all this?

Cruz seems willing to go along. Has anyone axed Rand for his opinion?

Even Cruz has fallen for the madness of climbing on the Ukraine war wagon. It was bad enough Lindsay Graham started advocating Putin's assassination but we already knew he is in the neocon bag.

Pretty soon even John McCain will rise from his coffin at the Naval Academy to help beat the war drums.

Everybody needs to stop and take a good, deep breath and ask themselves why they want to join the likes of Hillary Clinton, George Soros, the Democrat Party, the RINOs, the entire mainstream media, and all the globalists and start shooting in Eastern Europe. Could there some other agenda involved here?

American politicians only want to do the right thing when there is a boogie man.

I am not suggesting sending arms to Ukraine, but if you were going to do it, it should have been done weeks ago. If that provokes Putin, pound him into oblivion.

The Ukrainian’s brave response to Putin is inspiring. Biden’s bumbling since taking office is embarrassing. He and his puppet masters are morons in the first degree

Chill.

Just pointing out this has been going on for a long time, now.

Much of the Left currently running the country, the aging Senate boomers, the House Octogenarians (like Pelosi), and the Senior Citizen Biden, cut their political teeth on Soviet anti-war funds back in the 60s.

It isn’t my fault that Bernie, Nancy, et all were active college students in the Summer of Love, signs and banners bought and paid for by the Comintern.

I wouldn’t directly blame Putin, but he was a Colonel in the KGB during the Soviet days, and they were the bagman for OUR campus radicals.

If you think Russia today is in anyway the Soviet Union, you are starting out on the wrong planet.

I agree. We just dont need to be smackingdown Ukraine as a country.

Instead why dont Cruz, etc put pressure on France, Germany and Poland to step up? They are the ones who will be overrun next.

Most on FR can agree with that without needing to act like every person in a Ukraine is a corrupt, trafficking oligarch. I think weve seen a lot of freedom loving patriots.
