Russia and Ukraine will hold a third round of talks on Monday about ending hostilities, Ukrainian negotiator David Arakhamiya said in a Facebook post on Saturday, without providing further details.

Also, Russian negotiators will be arriving in Washington DC on a flight from St. Petersburg in about 2 hours.

Hopefully there will be a cease fire and there can be a negotiation to end the war.

My prediction of deal.

1. Russia keeps Crimea

2. Russia can have Donetsk and Luhansk

3. Ukraine agrees not to join NATO

4. Ukraine keeps water supply open to Crimea and charges Russia for the water

5. Russia gets the hell out of Ukraine as fast as they can

6. Putin is dead from his spinal cancer in a year and dies a loser who failed in his dream to resurrect the Soviet Union.

The Ukes should just claim they never gave back all their Nukes, since it was a “nonbinding” agreement they signed along with Russia and the US

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum_on_Security_Assurances

and, since it’s been a couple of decades, they just say they buried a couple of them in Moscow and will trigger them if Russia doesn’t leave the territory within 10 hours.

That’s what I would do.

That is about a dumb a thing as you could do.

This war has to end and Ukraine has to make a deal that will satisfy the Russian security interests.

Nope. If that was the plan, Russia wouldn't be urgently flying their negotiators to Washington DC from St Petersburg right now on a Saturday. Plus, the Russians haven't even attempted to take Odessa.

I believe Western Ukraine will break off. There are parts of Ukraine which are predominantly Hungarian, as it was formerly a part of the Austria-Hungary. I believe even Putin suggested he would support it.

Why should Pukin settle for less than the whole ball of wax? He’s got the upper hand militarily and he has the world shaking in their little slippers. God help Ukraine. You ( and I mean some people) can say that Ukraine is corrupt and doesn’t deserve sympathy but I’ve always been for the underdog. It’s in our blood.

If that kind of deal can be done, fine. Crimea was never going to be given up by the Russians that is a key point going back to Peter the Great.

The dumbest thing was already done: The Ukes gave up their Nukes for “assurances” from us.

I was thinking the same thing. Why not bluff?

I wish. But Putin has even more drugs and steroids pumped into him to keep him alive than Dementia Joe.

A couple of suitcase nukes would only cost about $30M on the black market. It could be more than a bluff.

A deal can be negotiated. The Russians accepted an independent Ukraine on its border until the catastrophically destabilizing talk of NATO membership started. Russia will accept Ukraine as it was from the end of the Warsaw Pact until the arrival of the Obama clique in Kiev. NO RUSSIAN OCCUPATION. Otherwise, Russia will die on this hill to prevent NATO on the border of the motherland, 300 miles from Moscow. Give ceasefire/peace talks a chance.

Yep. But Putin also wanted Odessa as a crown jewel and he won't get it. Hell, the vast majority of Ukrainians didn't even want to turn off the water to Crimea after Putin took it. It was political pressure from the Crimean Tatars that forced Kiev to cut off the water.

Putin went this far to settle for those demands? That is essentially a crushing defeat.

He would settle for a down-sized Ukraine in terms of territory and economy. Probably slicing off more land around the border.
Maybe one-third of current Ukraine?

6. Putin is dead from his spinal cancer in a year and dies a loser who failed in his dream to resurrect the Soviet Union.

Putin isn't trying to resurrect the USSR. He's trying to resurrect Tsarist Russia. Listen to him talk. His heroes aren't Lenin or Stalin. It's Peter the Great and he's currently refighting the Battle of Poltava.

You’re right. Tsarist Russia, not Soviet Union. When I heard Putin dissing Stalin and Lenin and Khrushchev in his pre-war speech, I was actually shocked.
