Here’s how Putin protects himself from assassins and coup plots

Putin’s bodyguards are hand-picked for qualities that include “operational psychology,” physical stamina and the ability to withstand cold and not sweat in heat.

They’re reportedly outfitted with special briefcases that serve as shields to protect Putin and carry Russian-made, 9 mm SR-1 Vektor pistols loaded with armor-piercing bullets.

Before Putin travels, advance teams scout out his destination months ahead of time, checking to see how the public will likely respond and even if the area could be affected by bad weather or natural disasters.

Wherever he’s going to stay gets inspected, jamming devices are installed to prevent remote detonation of bombs and technicians conduct electronic surveillance of cellphones and other devices in the area.

On the road, Putin rides amid a convoy of heavily armored vans that carry military special operators armed with AK-47s, anti-tank grenade launchers and portable anti-aircraft missiles.

And when he steps out in public, four rings of security surround him, starting with his personal bodyguards, others hidden amid the crowd, still more ringing the perimeter and snipers perched on the surrounding rooftops.

Try 7.62x25 Soviet. Cheaper and zippy as hell. Prvi Partisan loads hollowpoints for it. It’s the cartridge for the Tokarev TT-33.

I believe they’re up to the AK-104 in 5.45×39. AK derived, but modernized with synthetic furniture and optics.

When God wants him gone, he’ll be gone. Word is, he’s going to perdition. That doesn’t sound like bodyguards doing good work to me.

When you’ve got a United States senator publicly calling for his assassination can’t blame him for being paranoid. Wonder if he keeps the launch codes close.

Well, you’ve gotta admit he’s worked pretty hard to deserve it. As the saying goes “He just needed killing”

I call B.S.!

How are they supposed to dissipate excess body heat when the ambient temperature rises? Pant like a dog?…”

There are people who have a genetic condition that prevents them from sweating. But I don’t understand how that could be a benefit in security staff. So I join you in calling B.S.

Yeah - Those people die when placed in a hot environment. It's called hyperthermia / heat stroke.

I can't carry with a shoulder holster because I sweat so much. The gun and holster would be drenched in salty sweat in no time.

9 mm SR-1 Vektor: reliable and quite ergonomic, it’s quite acurate for a service pistol. Very powerful round, especially armor piercing one that can deal with lvl 3 hard plates. But it’s expensive and have a limited availability for some law enforcement agencies.

No joke. Most Americans just don’t realize how incredibly callous and brutal the Russians can be and are. Russia is a difficult place to live. From a perspective of climate and nature while the land itself is beautiful it’s a hard place to live, extremes of climate and topography make for a tough, unsentimental people.

Putin doesn’t fear the future as much as he does his past catching up with him.
