Robert Hanssen's been in a cell just like that since he became Federal Bureau of Prisons prisoner #48551-083 in 2001. He is serving his sentence at the ADX Florence, a federal supermax prison near Florence, Colorado, in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day, and receives no human contact. His meals are placed through a trap door.
Doctors say he's lost the ability to communicate.
