On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “MTP Daily,” Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) said he thinks the U.S. should impose an embargo on Russian oil, but whether U.S. oil production should be increased to make up for the loss of Russian oil is up to President Joe Biden.
Menendez said, “I support a full embargo, even though it would equate to about — if it’s just the U.S. alone — about 4% of Russian sales globally. But I think it is an important step to make, and I think it is gaining traction. And I think that the president will have to look to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and other measures to offset any domestic challenges. But, look, an evil, horrible war needs some dramatic actions. And so, I think this is one of many that can be taken.”

We need to use less oil. That’s their policy and they stick by it. That way everybody has that skin in the game. Everyone is on the same page even reluctantly.
We heard a while ago that Russia had stopped selling oil to the US. Fact or rumor?
Don’t know the answer, but oil is what is called a “fungible” commodity.
So if Russia redirects that oil to somebody else, it’s still part of the world supply. I’ve read that the ChiComs will buy all the oil and gas that Russia can supply.
We did when we were on lockdown. It went to 11 million barrels daily , now back to 21 million daily

I saw a news blip come across the wire services yesterday that said Putin ordered a halt to exporting oil to the US but that article is now gone. That must have been misinformation.
