I remember during 9/11, there were some professors and students in university who cheered. Nothing happened. Strange times we live in.
I do know that there were a couple of doctors who cheered at 9/11 in the Cleveland Clinic, and they were fired.
The differing view did end the Dixie Chicks career tho. (I realize this is about the classroom. But they got shut down pretty swiftly).
