Top Russian general is killed by Ukrainian sniper as Kyiv claims 9,000 of Putin’s troops have died during invasion

A top Russian general has been killed amid bitter fighting in Ukraine in what represents a major blow to the Russian invasion.

Major General Andrey Sukhovetsky, who was the deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army of Russia's Central Military District, died yesterday as Ukrainian defence forces repelled the Russian offensive.

His death has not yet been officially confirmed by Russia's Ministry of Defence, but was announced on social media by his colleague Sergey Chipilyov and was widely reported by several Russian and Ukrainian news outlets.

A military source confirmed that he was killed 'by a sniper', and suggested a funeral for the Major General - by far the most senior Russian figure to have died in the conflict thus far - will be held in Russia on Saturday.

After days of denial, the Kremlin yesterday admitted that 498 of its troops have been killed and 1,600 injured in the 'special military operation' in Ukraine, but the true figure is almost certainly higher.

Ukraine's armed forces meanwhile claimed today that Russia's army had suffered 9,000 casualties - though the statement recognised that the calculation of the death toll 'is complicated by the high intensity of hostilities'.

Chipilyov, of the Airborne Forces Union of Russian Paratroopers, confirmed Sukhovetsky's death on social media earlier today in perhaps the most definitive proof of the general's passing.

'With great pain, we received the tragic news about the death of our friend, Major-General Andrey Aleksandrovich Sukhovetsky, in Ukraine during a special operation.

'We express our deepest condolences to his family,' the post read.

It was not clear where Sukhovetsky was killed.

The 47-year-old was a highly decorated veteran who was appointed deputy army commander of the 41st division in October 2021.

Prior to that, he commanded the 7th Airborne Assault Division in Novorossiysk for

[Unwise is a weasel word Ridiculous as it may seem this backwater war is existential to the Russian leadership. Escalation really quickly is built in. A blunt but covert message to Kiev to stand down is urgent before nuclear crisis ensues. Annexation of the Ukraine by Russia is greatly preferable to a crisis of escalation.]

Existential is a bit strong. Kim Il-sung invaded South Korea in 1950. The invasion destroyed his army and required Chinese intervention to fight the US to a draw. He lived to a ripe old age, killing any internal rivals who got in his way. And Kim was a Russian puppet selected for his subservience, not his ability.

Then there’s the case of Saddam Hussein, who started two failed land grabs, against Iran and Kuwait. He survived in office until the US invaded Iraq. And even then, he remained in charge of Baathist/Islamist insurgents until the US pulled him out of his hiding place.

No one handed Putin his job. He clawed his way to power. He knows a thing or two about how to appoint men he can trust with his life to key positions and keep them from conspiring against him individually or in collusion with each other. If he loses and withdraws from Ukraine, he will likely continue to rule Russia until the end of his natural life just like his North Korean counterpart.

Look at Maduro and Gaddafi. They tanked their countries’ economies despite tremendous amounts of oil resources. Gaddafi invaded Chad, lost and took huge losses in men and equipment. It took foreign intervention/invasion to remove one of them. Look at Mugabe. Only personal infirmity in the form of senility removed him from office.

I would bet dollars to donuts that the CIA has operatives on the ground (and rooftops) along with contracted mercs.

They've been there all along. Who do you think helped Biden and Hunter?

“ His death has been confirmed by the Russians and yet you STILL consider it outlandish propaganda?”
—————————————————————————————————————————-—

Perhaps you read that wrong.

“His death has not yet been officially confirmed by Russia’s Ministry of Defence”

A social media account claiming to be the General’s friend reported the death.

I can make a Social Media account claiming to be a Russian Corporal describing thousands of deaths from Snipers, Ace Ukraine Pilots, and babushka wrapped booby traps.

If he was smart, he diddy-maued on out of his perch before the general even keeled over.

“ They are getting sniper rifles from several nato countries plus Israel so 7.62x51 .300wm and .338 are possibilities..”
—————————————————————————————————————————-

If “Sniper” rifles are arriving……..

3,000 brand new “Sniper” rifles can arrive.

You’ll need something important with those rifles however.

TRAINED SNIPERS.

You see, the rifle itself doesn’t actually have the skill to do the work at hand.

It takes more than just a week.
So shooting up a row of empty Vodka bottles 100 yards away doesn’t cut it.

” a funeral for the Major General - by far the most senior Russian figure to have died in the conflict thus far - will be held in Russia on Saturday.”

Rank has its privilege. A lowly conscript would be cremated in the field instead of a home funeral.

Ok.

I’m not trying to be funny or rude, but are you sure or was it just reported that Putin said that?

Because the story says they could not get confirmation.

The problem is that Putin originally expected this to be easy. He is so pissed off now he wants the whole country.

Not good.

Can you imagine the mass hysteria that would consume this country when young soy boys get drafted, let alone they and gender confused kooks getting yelled at by drill instructors?

Many are very well trained to the point of seeming to doubt their own existence, and even possibly believing the reflection in their mirrors may be a media rick of some sort.

Let them do so. I do not care. I care about the US and pretty much only the US. Others problems are theirs not ours. In other words the national motto should be MYOB

RONALD REAGAN said that the Soviet Union was a parasite that had to live off the life (wealth) of victims. Nothing has changed, Putin needs to be a blood sucking parasite of other countries.
