The talent pool around D.C. is pretty shallow. And most with experience are deep staters.
Trump would have been better off doing what Clinton did with his appointments, prioritizing personal loyalty over experience. If someone can’t learn on the job, you can always replace them. If someone turns out to be disloyal, by the time you find out, it is probably too late.
