SB 1464 is a broad expansion of something that started with California’s “domestic violence” laws, and is probably the most dangerous bill of all of these.

What a lot of people don’t realize is that law enforcement is generally authorized, but not required, to make arrests (ie “enforce the law”). It’s generally described as “letter of the law vs. spirit of the law”. In almost every case, the law give discretion to the individual officer who “may” make an arrest to decide that, say, a warning is more appropriate in the particular circumstance. This principle was breached in California with the requirement that the officer “shall” make an arrest in the case of spousal or domestic partner violence. It was only a matter of time that this concept would be extended in other matters.

Senator Pan is most upset with the LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva who famously told his deputies to ignore mask mandate violations when the many Karens in the county would call to fink on their neighbors. That was without a doubt the right decision on the part of the (elected) Sheriff, and plenty of Democrat pols and their supporters were none to happy with him.

If this passes, it won’t stop with health orders. If it doesn’t pass, the Democrat machine will keep pushing to expand this incrementally.

No wonder California pols don’t want people owning guns in their state.

Turns out that a lot of American voters are basically fascists, too. Mussolini and Hitler didn't come to power except with the sizable support of the citizens.

My 50th HS reunion is later this year. My original inclination was a "maybe", but I've regained my senses. I've stayed in contact with NO ONE since graduation, save for a couple of brief emails.

The operative question is, "why would I travel 2000 miles to spend half a day with people that treated me like a pariah my last two months of high school? Nah, that would be stupid. I committed the crime of accepting an Army ROTC scholarship...there were teachers that said straight to my face how "disappointed" they were with my decision.

As much as I'd like to go back and give them all a big FU, it's not worth it. I had forgotten about CA's governmental edicts, too.

Technically, it's been 48 years for me. I graduated from HS in 72, and went to college in Washington. However, my parents were still living in CA, and I spent two summers with them. Had a great summer job, both years spent as a forest firefighter for the CA Division of Forestry. Made enough money to pay for my room and board at Gonzaga.

My parents retired and moved to Oregon. Had a two month break after college, before going on active duty, to Fort Bliss, TX for ADA Officer Basic. I became a naturalized citizen of Texas on 7/8/86.

They know it’s over, and want to guarantee they hold on to power by making illegal laws. Fascists, all!

Yep. The only reason I’m going back to mine is it’s an excuse to go to Seattle and visit family. And since we don’t fly any more, it’s a LONG drive from central Kentucky. We’ve done it twice since the pandemic started.

My father still lives there and I will only be visiting CA one more time for his funeral. I might take Amtrak as I never tried it, but only if there are no mask or vaccine requirements. I survived Covid no problem.
