I was asked which primary I was voting in, republican or democrat. Both were handled by the same staff, therefore no extra staff was needed.

Exactly.

I had a selection on a touch screen that only I could see, R or D.

The guy at the desk only checked my ID and voter registration card.

We have had to stand in line WITH dems n point to the color of our party this and the previous one. ONE TABLE FOR BOTH PRIMARIES.

Prior to that, there were 2 tables. One for EACH party.

They said there weren’t enough machines or people...when the switch was made.

Open primary in TX

Don’t declare party to register.

If the primaries are closed in Texas then yes only Democrats can vote in Democrat primaries and only Republicans can vote in Republican primaries. But it was a primary day for both parties. Shouldn’t a Republican be able to vote in a Republican primary in any polling place?

You are correct, sir! I (early) voted in Fort Bend County. They asked if I was voting in the republican or 'rat primary. I said republican and my ballot choices reflected only republican issues.

Texas has an open system for primary voters so wouldn't the ballot contain both pubbies and demonRATs and the voter gets to pick one side or the other?

No. They ask if you are voting in the R or D primary. The ballot you then receive will ONLY have the candidates and propositions related to the party you chose. You can choose either party beforehand, but you only get to vote for one. If there is a runoff, you only get to vote for the party you selected in the first election.

I could have voted in the 'rat party primary, but I would only have had 'rat candidates and propositions to vote for and would not be allowed to vote for or against any republicans. Republicans who live in blue states sometimes do this. Remember Rush's "Operation Chaos" in 2008?

Yeah, you’re an open primary state.

You have the strategic option of voting for the best Republican or the worst Democrat.

The Texas Court of Appeals has tied the attorney general’s hands with regard to prosecuting voter fraud. While a county level district attorney can do so, it cannot be done at the state level. In Democrat dominated counties like Harris, in which Houston is located, it is unlikely that voter fraud favoring the Democrats will be prosecuted.

Maybe it is the Democrat primary?

When voting in Texas, you declare Democrat or Republican at any of the voting locations. You then walk to a lady who gives you a random number that is tied to your vote. You then walk to a machine and put the random number in, and it pulls up either Republicans or Democrats for you to vote on.

Voting location is same for Dems and Pubs.

For a Primary, each party has a separate ballot.

For a General, one ballot for all.

Many places will split the line, it helps the unpopular voters get through faster and not have to stand in line as long. Makes it quicker for the Repubs also as there’s fewer people in their line

I can safely conclude we don't live in the same county.
