Russians start feeling the heat of Ukraine war sanctions

In the days since the West imposed sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, ordinary Russians are feeling the painful effects — from payment systems that won’t operate and problems withdrawing cash to not being able to purchase certain items.

“Apple Pay hasn’t been working since yesterday. It was impossible to pay with it anywhere — in a bus, in a cafe,” Moscow resident Tatyana Usmanova told The Associated Press. “Plus, in one supermarket they limited the amount of essential goods one person could buy.”

Apple announced that it would stop selling its iPhone and other popular products in Russia along with limiting services like Apple Pay as part of a larger corporate backlash to protest the invasion.

Dozens of foreign and international companies have pulled their business out of Russia. Major car brands halted exports of their vehicles; Boeing and Airbus suspended supply of aircraft parts and service to Russian airlines; major Hollywood studios halted their film releases; and the list will likely keep growing.

That’s on top of the United States and other Western nations hitting Russia with sanctions of unprecedented breadth and severity. They have thrown major Russian banks off the SWIFT international payment system, limited high tech exports to Russia and severely restricted Moscow’s use of its foreign currency reserves.

In a global economy, this feminine style emotion-driven response is gonna tear up our economy in ways we cannot even dream of yet. It’s like lighting a prairie fire to burn down your neighbor’s house... and never thinking what a slight shift in the wind might turn it towards your house.

Imagine if all oil/NG purchases were cancelled and increase domestic production, or purchase more oil/NG from Canada and Mexico.

Biden won’t do that because it might feed the inflation fire and hurt the Democrat party in the midterms.

A true American President would admit their mistake, change course, and do what is best for the Country.

Isn’t his new campaign slogan…”Made in America”?

The Russians will switch to Chinese-manufactured phones and that will be that. Apple is out of Russia for a long time.

LOL - no applepay. And no iphones!

What would really put a stake through the heart of the Putin Regime would be Starbucks removing the Caramel Macchiato from ALL its Moscow Stores.

Does the West have the conviction to deploy such a weapon?

IMO that will be an unintended consequence of this war. The average citizen will realize the negatives associated with globalization.

Unfortunate for the Ukrainians…but hopefully the Davos globalists have dug their own grave.

Biden is a corrupt sock puppet pedo. He is ruled by a large, shifting committee of Democrat Party hacks, the Intelligence Community, the DOJ and a host of the highest corporate lobbyists.

His administration is rule by leftist slogan and deep-state self interest.

Cancel culture has come to Russia. This is exactly how the antichrist will control who can buy and sell. Russia may or may not deserve to be cancelled from the banking system and social media system, but this is how it will be done worldwide . Maga folks and anti-vaxxers next, for those who haven’t had it already done to them.

Some Russians preparing to leave/relocate out of Russia because they believe things will get very bad there economically....others feel the world is against them and their people.

Not sure how Putin can keep his people indefinitely after this.

This will all be settled soon unless the idiots in DC find a way to keep this going as a long term bleeding insurgency.

But say it ends. Who’s ever going to build a pipeline? Buy an Apple product? Buy a Boeing? Buy an apartment near Central Park? (NYC is moving to confiscate Russian citizen owned real estate in Manhattan). You going to send your 600 million dollar yacht for a refit in a German shipyard?

This is all a design to destroy what is left of the economy for the WEF and start Klaus Schwabs 4th Reich he keeps preaching about in his nazi accent. DC is thrilled to play a part. Today Powell said he saw no reason the Dollar should remain the global reserve currency.

They’ll just go through a transition moment while everything switches to China and the Asian markets.

I’m curious how the Middle Eastern countries will do with the economic markets shifting.
