Hospitals in Belgorod stopped accepting civilian patients. They will be redesigned for the Russian military

Some hospitals in Belgorod have stopped accepting civilian patients - they will be repurposed to receive Russian military personnel who were injured during the hostilities in Ukraine, Novaya Gazeta has learned.

In particular, city hospital No. 2, one of the best in the city and the region, with excellent repairs, located on Kharkovskaya Gora (this is how the locals call the modern part of the city), now works only to receive wounded soldiers.

In the emergency room of the city hospital No. 2, a Novaya Gazeta correspondent saw slightly wounded servicemen and witnessed how the staff of the emergency room were convened for a general meeting of the traumatology department “to discuss issues on the military agenda.”

In addition, as the correspondent of Novaya Gazeta learned from employees of the private medical center Generation, due to the intensive flow of the wounded, specialists (primarily surgeons) from commercial medical clinics are also involved in their treatment.

(dead Russian soldiers near Irpin)

Belgorod is in Russia opposite Kharkiv, Ukraine, which has been the scene of heavy fighting and where Putin destroyed the main government building with a cruise missile and has been making heavy use of MLRS and cluster munitions against the city.

People in Russia are just beginning to suspect that there might be large numbers of dead and wounded Russian soldiers. Most are in complete denial about this possibility.

For the first time, authorities are making statements indicating that there have been losses, that this happens in every war, and have identified a handful of soldiers who lost their lives.

However, Ukraine has asked the International Red Cross to assist them with the thousands of Russian dead, and the International Red Cross does have some credibility in Russia, if this happens that might be a turning point in perceptions.

If you have any contacts in Russia who are providing information to you about the situation there that could be considered negative about the war or about Putin, please protect their identities and I would suggest not sharing contact information or links about them.

The federal prosecutor's office in Russia has indicated a more strict attention to prosecutions for treason, and whether they will try to extend this to information that might lead Russians to turn against the war remains to be seen.

Very likely something like a financial contribution to the Armed Forces of Ukraine would so be considered by them.

I am hearing that there are businesses in Russia that have begun accepting only dollars. Not widespread though.

Do you believe these reports and sources? Propaganda is at an all time high now, unfortunately.

The Russians are taking casualties beyond what their field hospitals can manage.

Good.

Serves them right.

It’s a Russian newspaper reporting this. They might lie about may things but I’ve no reason to think they’d lie about this except that the situation is probably worse than they’re reporting.

It is normal for a field hospital to evacuate wounded to the rear. The field hospital is not intended for long term care, just to stabilize wounded for transport or to undertake immediately required surgery. They are military ER’s. Any other function would be under exceptional conditions, such as if evac is not available.

I’ve heard that the term “cargo 200” is trending in Russian search engines. “Cargo 200” is Russian military code for the transportation of those killed in battle.

It is important for a field hospital to evac as many as it can, in order to keep capacity open for a surge in casualties.

If that makes you feel better, sure. If this was factored into the invasion plans then it would have happened BEFORE the invasion. The fact they’re doing it now says the invasion isn’t going according to plan.

Put the pipe down.
President Biden is on now. He is giving solace, and empty platitudes that might supplant your arguments.

Putin is cranking up the machinery within Russia to get more troops added to the Russian military

IMO it’s a race between whether he can get control of Ukraine before the population at large in Russia understands just what an incredibly high price in blood young Russians are paying for his “special operation” and just how bad the economic consequences could be for Russia

IMO the fight on the home front in the information war for the Russian people is just as important for Putin as how success is going on the battlefield

Look, I put issues of right and wrong ahead of my political views. Russia is wrong. Putin is wrong.

That’s all I care about.

Stack ‘em like cordwood and light ‘em up.

Putin has mobile crematoria for exactly this purpose. They don't want the people to see coffins coming home. The Ukrainians asking the Red Cross to repatriate Russian dead is a stroke of genius. The Ukrainians are also giving cell phones to their POWs so they can call their families back home. Apparently there are mothers who are furious that their children, who were supposed to simply be on maneuvers during their one year of mandatory military service are instead being sent to fight and die in Ukraine.
