Archduke Ferdinand and family were not available for comment./LOL
Europe being Europe!!
Trench warfare, mustard gas and Snoopy facing the Red Baron in his Sopwith Camel.
That is the extent of most Americans knowledge of the Great War. Sad really.
The US seems intent on making it one.
“Truth is the first casualty of war!”
The only axiom that matters. Shocking how many have forgot it and gone straight to the emotional responses.
Mr. Greenfield is a brilliant, and I am glad he is on our side, however I believe the goal of the UN has always been to resurrect the rule by "Philosipher-Kings" on a global scale.
The whole "beat weapons into plowshares" schtick is just a canard to dupe the gullible with.
The global elites have always had a deep disdain for the common man, and the accomplishments by a bunch of "country of bumpkins" here in the U.S.A. is driving them in sane.
When I was in high school I read her book “The Proud Tower’’.
Very informative. It really peaked my interest in history.
Resembles more of a civil war.
“Biden has been the best thing to happen to Europe.”
Well, that blew it! Biden has done nothing but talk saying things he will not back up and doesn’t mean a thing if he could. And his actions have set the US up for complete failure along with a dependency that may take years to get out of from countires that qualify as third world.
8K troops he sent mean nothing in this if they go as the war will escalate into the continental US. And they are still sitting there twiddling thumbs. And if they are ever ordered anywhere, it’ll be home unless Biden decides to strand them there, too. He has a history of that.
We’re not defending Ukraine while we pay the price for it. Sanctions will not stop Putin as long as he is getting financial and product support from China. And some of those poor little countries like Belarus see the writing on the wall and are trying to get in with Russia. There will be more as the click starts to grow.
Biden with this attitude of being a legend in his own mind is no more the savior of Europe, or anywhere else, than any other over rated, inexperienced, backward, vain fool hiding behind the US’s reputation he is destroying with every opportunity.
He isn’t good for anybody, anything, anywhere.

The Russians faced the same situation in Finland in 1939/40.
Seems Ivan is a slow learner.
👍
One squad of A10s could pretty much wipe out the whole Russian invading army.
Throw in a contingent of Apache/Cobra helicopters and they would be destroyed in 24 hours.
It is a rather strange war. I see video of destroyed buildings and abandoned and burning tanks and armored vehicles, a wounded person or two and a body here and there but little else.
Now mercenaries are coming into the fight.
Why if you have an army do you need paid killers?
I haven’t heard it yet, but I’m waiting...
The reason we all care about Ukrainians, and less so about Uyghurs and Nigerians and Yemenis, is that Ukrainians are white.
I give the Squad and other far-left [expletive]s until Thursday, but trust me, it’s coming.
Anything to stay relevant.
Their PR person probably told them it was “trending”
Two of these “women” routinely post videos of themselves having sex with men or pleasuring themselves.
They will do anything for attention.
Read it. Good book.
Odd to think that 1 Serb assassinates someone and >20mm die in WWI.
Tuchman’s Gun of August is excellent.
WWI was a far bigger cultural tragedy for Western civilization than we tend to appreciate. It badly damaged European culture. And politically it opened the door for Communism in Russia, Nazism in Germany, and set up its second act WWII.
One thing I notice from the various books on WWI is no one has an easy explanation for why it erupted. The assassination didn’t have to trigger a war. Some explanations include the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. Austro-Hungarian expansionism, egged on by Germany. Interlocking alliances that all decided to go to war.
One lesson from it could be that wars take on a life of their own and can end up far bigger than anyone predicts.
The US in WWI was considered a 2nd rate power by our allies and was largely ignored during the peace negotiations. They were glad to have our troops late in the war to end the stalemate but that’s about it. They didn’t want American advice. I think we tend to confuse how powerful we were in WWII with what the situation was like in the first world war.
Agreed!
Very much like WWI
The Ruling Class convinces the world that they need to send its people to protect their empires.
They sit at home drinking champagne while the people die.
