Red state should just call themselves deep state and quit their pretentions otherwise. They are anti-Trump too as you would expect from a website that pumps out deep state propaganda.

take Putin’s statement about the Soviet breakup being the worst thing that has happened in recent world history as telling the tale in a nutshell. He wants to rebuild the USSR.

Yep. Although he does not miss Communism but he missed the imperial power of the Soviet state. Putin is probably trying to bring back the historical glory of the Russian Empire before WWI under Czar Nicholas II.

What do our so called 5 Eye Allies in the Pacific, Australia and New Zealand want?

OK, I'm not an official Australian government spokesman but even a brief investigation will tell you it's security.

Ever since Europeans arrived back in 1788, the concern of defending a huge resource rich continent with a tiny population that's far away from strong allies has always been there.

That's why up until 1942 Australia looked to the British Empire for it's security backstop. When Singapore fell it was clear that the British could no longer help defend Australia, it was fortunate that Australia was able to turn to another Anglosphere power - the United States.

Any indication of the United States is no longer willing or able to help defend its allies or its interests scares Australia. There is realistically no alternative security backstop, no plan B. If we are back to the era of powerful countries invading and taking over less powerful ones with the rest of the world doing SFA about it (the "we don't have a dog in this fight" mentality that seems to be rampant here) then God help us all.

Putin uses Russian ethnonationalism as a rallying point.

Thanks for the update.

We don’t envy your future position out there basically on your own.

I would be strengthening relations with Japan, S. Korea, Vietnam, India and SE Asia and having fair trade with the ChiComs.

If our mutual 5 Eyes Pact lasts 3-5 more years, I would be surprised.

If America survives the Biden/Brandon era, we will probably go on like a recluse but strong government/country with most of Europe and your area. That will be trade wise not military wise.

If our trade allies need military help, it will not be coming from us.

Best of luck to you and the other good Aussies!

“And China views Taiwan (formosa) as a breakaway province. Hum.”

Yes. You could substitute “Russia” with ‘China, and “Ukraine” with “Taiwan”.

From the article, I get the impression Putin is trying to do for Russia what Justinian I tried to for the Roman/Byzantine Empire—restore the borders and glory of the old Empire.

You ask, “I keep seeing references to Putin’s supposed support from the right, but I haven’t actually seen people on the right supporting Putin’s move into Ukraine. What’s going on here?”
This is the new Democratic Party talking point; actually, it will probably be plank one in the Party platform for the 2022 elections, and, likely, a strident theme that Biden evokes tomorrow night.

Research “Alexander Dugin” and you will find either the source or the author of the essays himself. Dugin’s “mystical philosophy” is basically an ideology for reviving the Russian Empire. The “Russian World” concept advocates gathering all the ethnically “Russian” peoples into one unit, ruled by an authoritarian govt in Moscow. Another thread is “Eurasianism” (this gathers non-Russian former SSRs like Kazakhstan into a system dominated by... an authoritarian govt in Moscow...). Dugin supposedly “advises” Putin, who has indeed pushed an Eurasian Union concept as his signature program to counterbalance the EU (it’s long been a source of friction with Ukraine that doesn’t want to be in it).

Putin’s recent Hitlerian rants are informed by Dugin’s twisted version of history and ethnicity. Putin definitely is using Dugin’s ideology to justify his actions in Ukraine and his vituperations against NATO and the EU. I doubt that Putin is a true believer, but the hooey is a good smokescreen for his real motives.

Old Russia irredentism, parading as second generation Marxism, parading as recreating the Czarist Russian Empire.

Sort of like the movie “Victor,Victoria” on steroids!

Got it!!!

Reconquista.

I think it extends way beyond that. I'd say his goal is what the Normandy landings prevented Stalin from doing - take all of Europe. That's why great changes are afoot among NATO's European members. Thanks to Putin's invasion of Ukraine, the Germans have done a head-spinning U-turn - they are finally re-arming. The analogy would be to the Pope suddenly declaring that he's really a devout Hindu (although that wouldn't surprise me). I suspect the appearance of 100,000 demonstrators in Berlin forced the chancellor's hand.

Up until now, the US was pushing the reluctant EU. Now the EU and Germany are out in front. The sanctions WILL hurt Russia, a lot, especially the rich. The weapons that the EU is paying for and sending will hurt Russia. Putin is like Japan at Pearl Harbor – he has awakened the sleeping eagle (albeit the German one) and it wasn’t a good idea to do so.

When the German chancellor, who has acted like Putin’s personal valet throughout suddenly does a U-turn - that’s when you sit up and take notice. When the Green weenies in Germany start talking about reviving coal, you know these people have seen the elephant, and are acting accordingly.

German chancellor Scholz in a fairly long formal speech in parliament an hour ago has announced five steps that the German government is taking:

  1. Support Ukraine with weapon deliveries from Germany and Allies as an answer to Putin's aggression
  2. Deter Putin from further aggression through sanctions and embargos, both against the country, its private business and "responsible individuals".
  3. continue to increase deployed Bundeswehr units to support Eastern-European NATO allies.
    1. Maintain Battlegroup in Lithuania (being expanded with reserve forces).
    2. Contribute to second Battlegroup in Slovakia being built up (Germany will also take command of this second Battlegroup).
    3. Continue current adhoc-formed Air Policing deployment in Romania (training deployment with Italy was transformed to that)
    4. Continue current adhoc deployment of German Navy ships in patrols in Baltic Sea and Mediterranean.
    5. Ready air defence forces for deployment on NATO eastern borders if required.
  4. Invest to increase Bundeswehr capabilities:
    1. Establish an immediate 100 billion Euro budget for 2022 to increase Bundeswehr capabilities.
    2. Permanently raise defence budget above 2% GDP.
    3. Prioritize projects with European partners, in particular France for new MBTs, future Eurofighter replacement and just signed Eurodrone project. Replace Tornado with SEAD-enabled Eurofighters and consider F-35 for nuclear delivery (and yes, he named the thing usually not named). Procure Heron UCAV from Israel.
    4. Increase hybrid warfare and cyber resilience.
    5. (Seek increased energy independence from Russia by expanding coal and gas reserves and building two LNG terminals.)
  5. (didn't quite catch that - lots of bla about "ceasing naive exterior politics" of recent years and about alliances and "defending a peaceful Europe")

There was a lot of serious pathos and patriotistic platitudes throughout the speech, going as far as "we shall defend every square meter of NATO" and a "do not ask what you can get out of Brussels for your own country, but ask what is the best decision for The Union". The speech was accentuated by standing applause from most of the plenum (except the right-extremist pro-Putin AfD faction).

Does Ukraine have a right to national sovereignty, and do they have the right to refuse to be forced to be part of a new Czarist empire under Putin?

As far as the Ukrainians are concerned, and when running their own country their concerns matter more to them than our politics, their answers to both questions is "yes".

Agree 100%! The NWO is making it's final push, as it became clear that electing Trump would be their undoing. This is why Trump had to endure non-stop persecution from the minute he came down that escalator.

Every nation saw a Patriot revolt! We are winning. Into this mix, Putin had the audacity to rise up against them. He has zero tolerance for the NWO. As was the case with Trump, they came after Putin in an attempt to muscle their way into his nation.

Ukraine is the most corrupt nation in eastern Europe. It was taken over completely by the rogue C_A in 2014. All it takes is a look at the money laundering involving the sons of Biden, Kerry, Pelosi and Romney!

The Pentagon itself owned 11 Bio-weapon labs in Ukraine. They have been searching for a way to take control of human consciousness, to develop a trans-tech control over the populace. This information was stored on the US embassy computers in the Ukraine. Naturally, they've scrubbed it! They deleted it after it was discovered...can't have the cattle engaging in wrong think. Fortunately, some grabbed it before they could accomplish this. But I digress.

For those paying attention, his first attacks took out the Pentagon labs! Every move he has made took out key elements that supported the NWO, the labs, the finance systems, the artillery and control operators.

Here is a list of archived files on the deleted info: https://files.catbox.moe/tvnbqa.pdf

Anyway, the MSM coverage is questionable. They are using old video of the attacks, photos, etc. This is all a huge psyop imho. Beware and keep an open mind.

Also bear in mind that Ukraine is a huge child trafficking hub. It's also a hub for the drug cartels. If Putin & other world Patriots succeed, this evil will be wiped off the face of the earth.

Keep your heads on swivel as no one knows what else might be headed our way.
