Feb 28 (Reuters) - Russia has a system that can replace the SWIFT international payments system internally, Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina said on Monday, stressing the need to support clients of banks.
Nabiullina said all banks in Russia will fulfil their obligations and all funds on their accounts are secured.

It’s not a lie, Brother. But wait, there’s more. This looks like a big deal the way Sputnik has it posted, but no details. As far as the Kremlin Press Service, where the details are, looks like access to that site is blocked. So, we don’t know what’s in it, but my guess, it is in some way an attack on the Petro Dollar, an attempt to dislodge the USD as the world’s reserve currency:

I have been explaining this on FR lately. It’s usually not understood.
Currency exchange involves pieces of paper with ink printed on it. If you withdraw your currency from FX and operate your country internally, what would it mean?
It means you can’t buy things from outside the country. But you can sell things (gas and oil) by insisting on rubles. And you can set whatever price you want in rubles. When there is nowhere else to get that gas or oil (and there is not) your price must be paid, because gas and oil are civilization’s lifeblood.
If you are food self sufficient, money issues mean nothing. In Russia’s case, all this would mean they can’t buy bytes of advertising or entertainment. But they stay warm, or cool, and food moves on trucks to stores.
Money is a substance that has value determined only in the minds of counterparties. Oil and gas contain joules of energy. Joules are not dependent on what goes on in anyone’s mind.

Go find out what the SWIFT bank network is. You somehow think it depends on the dollar or US debt.
I remember this system was put in place years ago. Nothing new.

I know what it is...but things are linked moving from SWIFT is an ideal time to get away from the Dollar.
In any case, I guess we’ll find out.
Putin started disconnecting from the London central bank in 2017.
They have been de-dollar icing for a decade.
Russia has “local” currency agreements with China and Turkey (and other counties.). They are not going to starve any time soon. Long term…they will hurt.
But the oligarchs aren’t kept their assets in Russia for a long time. They own half of London, a chunk of NYC, and the parts of Miami that the Cubans don’t.
The media would have you think these guys are the villains from some John Wick movie. They moved their money with the help of the smartest financial minds in the world. I guess we could assassinate them…but that’s from some novel too.
